So yesterday i installed my prosport boost gauge and did the custom vent pod. everything went smoothly but when i started the car up, it did the opening ceremony, then it went all the way down to -30 vac, it went up to 30 psi and stayed there. obviously the cars not running 30 psi cause at idle when it should be in vac it stays at +30psi. help anyone?

I dont have a prosport gauge, so Im talking out of my ass a little. But to me it sounds like its got to be an issue with the sender unit. Possibly communication between the 2. I would suggest getting in touch with prosport and seeing if this is indicitive of a common issue.

from memory you will have the following depending on the model of prosport gauge.

red +12vdc
blk -24vdc
org dash illum
grn signal

with the engine running remove the sense line (small clear tubing you just installed) and check that the pressure now drops to 0psi, this will confirm your wiring and the functionality of the gauge, if the pressure stays at +30psi then you have either wired it wrong of the gauge is bad. If the pressure drops to 0 then when you reconnect the tubing it goes back to +30 you may have tied it into the wrong place.
If you still have issues or dont understand, post up your installation instructions so i can see exactly what you have, photos of your wiring terminations would also help.

While you've got the clear tubing removed you might want to get someone to suck then blow on it while you watch the gauge. With it unhooked the gauge should read 0, sucking on it a little should bring it down to -6 or something, and blowing in it will probably only take it up to 2 or 3. It tried this with mine when it showed up to check the gauge out since it wasn't packed very well and it was going to be a couple weeks before I could install it. For what it's worth, I got mine installed today and at idle it reads about -20 and it pops up to 15 or so boost real quick if I get on it. That was just a brief shot due to traffic. I don't believe the vacuum should ever read -30 steadily unless the gauge or sender is defective.

ok so my wirings definitely off because when i removed the clear tubing it still stayed at 30 and as seeing i wired mine way different than most people this doesnt surprise me. Instead of going to the fuse box by the glove box i simply ran it to the cigarette lighter. I cant check right now but im pretty sure this is how my wires are: black off boost sensor is ground, red and white are through the fire wall. Back of gauge has red green orange white and black wires. Green connects to white from boost sensor, black is grounded, white is unused (running amber light at all time) orange and red from back of gauge and the red from the boost sensor are tied in using one end of a butt connector and then clamped, wire clamped on the other side then runs to the back of the cigarette lighter.
