Zoom Zoom Boom X 3
From other threads we now know that Mike (aka GhostP5) is stepping down. He is NOT leaving the club, nor is the club itself disolving. When ProMazda started to grow steps were taken to ensure that the people in responsible positions could be replaced if the need arose. Mike and Todd established a chain of command so that if a vacancy came up it could be quickly filled. Mike has been a very outspoken founder and leader of this club and I think we all have overlooked just how much has fallen on his shoulders. He has braced this club financially for two years. He has spent thousands of personal dollars buying the rights for this website, the server that hosts it, and the license for the forum software. He has almost single handedly planned and executed every NC ProMazda meet as well as NOPI. Mike has put his very being into this club and it has become a monster that he should not have to deal with alone. Mike has more than paid his dues and served his time. No one can argue that he deserves a long vacation along with all our thanks for starting something we all have come to love.

This leaves us with the question of "What now"?

This is how it is. Mike and Todd (Dr. Zoom) are going back to doing the things that make them the most happy...being with their families and working on their cars. That leaves me to fill the shoes of two of the most dedicated guys to the Mazda community that I have ever seen. I know I can't do it alone. I am going to need help.

ProMazda is still here. We have over a hundred dedicated members from all over the USA with more people asking about us everyday. We are ,as much now as we have ever been, a family. During the winter monthes communication tapered off between the different chapters and between distant members. The focus of the club as become blurred. Now with Spring upon us, it is time to regain what it means to be apart of this club. We have lost touch with our sponsor vendors due to problems with orders and lack of time to discuss what we can do to help each other. The time to turn all this around is here.

We have a pressing issue that needs to be discussed and I ask that anyone wanting to talk please PM me. Our website and forum cost hundreds of dollars a year to keep functioning. I cannot and will not pay this on my own. I can't expect only the members that I am close to help. This is a cost that has to be endured by all the members. This is not a threat at making members pay dues. It is simply fact that without a small amount of income ProMazda.com will cease to exist. With the number of members that we currently have active we are only looking at a few dollars a month to cover our operating costs. I'll be working with the chapter Presidents on this to iron it out so it will be a little time before a final descision is made. I can assure all the members that you will get something back in return. We will expand our sponsor vendors and everyone will benefit. Please know that it will take sometime to initiate and stabilize a structure, but it will happen.

We need to take things one step at a time. The first step is making sure that we have a home on the internet to call our own. After that we can build whatever dream we want.

The people that know me best know that I rarely ask for help with anything. I need help now more than ever. If you can donate anything toward helping pay for the website it would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks guys and girls...you guys are the bestest

A bump for the early birds on the East Coast. Please understand that our VBulletin license has already expired and it is only a matter of time before we lose it. I cannot do it by myself.

Thank you to all those who replied to our call for help so quickly. I just wanted to relay some more information to help everyones understanding of what is going on.

I'm currently working on an email list for everyone who is officially in the club. We can do mass emails through ProMazda.com, but I want to be able to communicate directly to our active members and the forum has many more people registered than what we currently have as active members. I've tried to get in touch with most of our members and I have email addresses for 75% of them. I'll have a list up at Promazda.com in the next few days of people that I have emails for as well as people I don't have, so keep an eye out for it. If you aren't on the list you might miss out on important news about raffles or discounts we are working on. I want everyone to be a part of the new things we are trying to implement this season.

Since Ghost has decided to turn the financial responsibility of the club over to the members (as he should have done a long time ago...he is a stubborn bastard(chair) ) we all share an equal part in making sure that we support what we have come to love and rely on. To stay an active member you have to help us pay the bills for our domain name, server, and Vbulletin liscense. We have established a way to do this through your account at ProMazda.com and I'll be sending out an email to explain it better once I'm confident that I have everyone's email address.

We can't expect you guys to pay every month without offering something in return. It will take us a few monthes, but once we have a solid structure in place, we will be offering raffles and club discounts to those members that have stayed current by helping pay the bills. In the future we hope to use some money to buy each chapter an EZ-up tent with ProMazda on it for events and help regional meets with food and raffle items.

We have a lot more we are working on like specialized groups for our racers and show cars. I'm in the process of talking with most of the major vendors and suppliers of aftermarket parts for the Proteges, but I need to make sure that I have a strong enough membership base before I can truely offer good proposals.

We have always been about helping and supporting each other in our love of cars and life. We need to pull together once again and continue to push for the goals and ideas that we have always believed in. I have seen first hand what this club is capable of when we work together and we are stronger now than we have ever been, but we can't sit back and assume that this thing is on auto-pilot. Please express any ideas or concerns that you may have and PM me or any of the chapter presidents if there is anything that you think can be done better. This club is not Ghost's, Dr. Zoom's or mine. It belongs to all of us and I want it to reflect the convictions of all of us. (headbang)
