Yup, still in Japan. Unfortunately, I couldn't attend the Cosmo meet this time...

Not sure about the 30th Anniversary but if they do it in the summer, I might go this time around.. especially if its near 7's day.

For the past year, I been looking into getting a dash unit for track use. Mainly to monitor various sensors such as: Oil temp, Oil pressure, Water Temp, Fuel pressure, Boost, EGT, etc.. as you can imagine, this will clutter the cockpit with bunch of gauges and problem placing them all.
Also, pending what ecu you run some dash unit will not work. So, after searching.. came up with an idea.
Those of you whos been following this thread, I was lucky enough to acquire a Defi Super Sport Cluster. Super rare dash replacement that you can tie into your OE car harness and Defi sensors to replace your OE cluster.
Well, Defi recently came out with something interesting.

A device you can hook up to your 2008+ OBD II port and stream real time info to your smart phone or tablet. Better yet, you can use their Advance Control unit and also stream Defi sensor(s) reading to your iOS devices!!
So.. I decided to give it a shot!
bought an iPad mini, and downloaded the app called "Defi Meter C".
App looks like this.
My friend at EVOR sold me a Carbon blank cluster surround, which I used it to mount the iPad mini.
And installed it in the car..
And here is the video of it running..

They are coming out with some cool stuff!! such as logging program and even track logging.

How did you get that to work with the OBD2 of the rx7? Isn't it a bit too old?
Then again I imagine there isnt much left of the original ecu...
I'm using Advance Controller which hooks up to the Smart Adapter W which give me the Oil temp, oil pressure, fuel pressure, coolant temp, boost, and I tapped into OE Rev and Speedo which connects to the controller but only with Smart Adapter W for the controller unit will supply the rev and speedo harness.

Awesome update as always, Phil! How is that iPad Defi combo working out for you in terms of accuracy and reliability? Is it actually useful...As good as "traditional" Defi gauges? Are there issues, delays or annoyances going through the iOS / iPad interface?

There is a slight delay during start up. Usually takes about 15 seconds to connect via bluetooth.
once connected, signal response is un-noticeable. I actually like this as all the read out is just in front of you. Also with newer ipad mini, I can run navigation instead of this during a long cruise vs. watching parameters.
My new thing is going simple/clean interior. less buttons.
