Problem with my MS3 (Vid inside: Timing chain? Heat Shield?) HELP!

:
2008 TR Mazdaspeed 3
So I have just been getting this problem with my MS3 today and yesterday. It makes this clamoring sound (you will see in the video). Can someone diagnose this? Am I going to have to go to the dealer? I'm not getting any CELs and the car runs fine. It is coming from the passenger's side of the engine bay, far back in the engine; and can also be heard clearly from under the car (which leads me to believe it is just a heat shield or some metal on metal contact that isn't major). It happens whenever driving the car (downshifting, idling, accelerating, ect... you can hear it throught the cabin). I just noticed it badly tonight and am scared to drive the damn thing. It only has 9,6xx Miles on it.

PLEASE HELP ME OUT!

This video is mostly for the sound so excuse the horrible lighting/angles and my voice:

I'm sorry if this is an easy fix or I sound stupid, but I have never heard this before and it's just freaking me out.

does the sound get worse if you rev it higher? All i hear is when your AC comes on it speeds up a little

It pretty much remains consistent throughout the rev range... but after noticing the problem I didn't rev it past 3,000. This is what leads me to believe it is a stupid heat shield... but I can't find where the damn rattle is coming from.

And is it only on a cold start?

No, happens when warm. This vid was with the engine fully warmed up.

Maybe have the crew take a look at it when they get an opportunity, if the noise persists.

I honestly can't see anything loose... I even had the car up on jackstands today and was under it and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.

Tensioner Pulley. Its pretty common. Covered under warranty below 36k

I third the tensioner pulley. a rock got under mine and made the exact same noise. all covered under warranty.

Took it to a local dealer to confirm this. It was the tensioner pulley... they ordered a new one and are replacing it Monday. Awesome service and didn't care about my mods too. Bigger's Mazda if any IL person was wondering. I called Continental and they were ready to void my warranty even if I had a boost gauge in.

Glad to see you got this taken care of so quickly with no hassle.

Got beaten to it. But I also had the same problem a few months ago. I ordered the parts from MS motorsports and did the repair for under $100

Did the noise come on all at once? A couple weeks back I heard a very simliar but faint sound like that while driving home from work, but it only happened one time for a couple minutes. I was about to pull off the road, but it was on/off then gone and hasn't returned.

Hmm...makes me wonder how it will go from here. What was your onset like?
