Prince Valorum's 95 626 Build Thread

who knows, never had it dynoed. but i expect around 170 hp. and simliar torque, if not more. my friend said it would run right next to his mildly modded msp

are you really getting rid of the 626 wes?

are you really getting rid of the 626 wes?

Nope, apparently not. Seller went full retard like a little b**** and sold it to someone else. I don't even want to get into it now, I'll just explode.

You dragged your ass like a dog on the carpet SOOOOO worried that somehow he was going to screw you over. Paranoid much??

Hey, if you want to send a check for 12k to someone you met once and hope they make the right decision, be my guest. That's not how I operate. Period. The fact of the matter is that he was too stupid to understand what I was trying to set up with the bank so that the transaction could be secure. I explained it very clearly in a PM and he's all "zomg I unno what u trying 2 say, hold my hand and explain it." If you want to call me whiny because I had no desire to become another internet fraud sob story, I don't know what to tell you. Defend your friend if you like, it doesn't change the fact that he's a b**** and doesn't conduct business like a man with honor would. And he admitted that on the phone, sooooo....

You had OVER a week to produce the money.

Producing the money was never an issue in the slightest. I wasted my own time, money and missed work on three separate mornings to secure a loan (150$ loan fee down the drain, in addition to the gas driving to the bank, and the missed hours at work, in total around 200-250$) and set up the proper procedure at the bank to do things by the book. The fact that he wanted me to cut a check and toss it in the mail is absurd. He admitted that he's done that three times and never gotten burned! That's incredible! Maybe he should do the world a favor and try his hand at Russian roulette. Add to this that he was upset that I was unable to provide him a "warm fuzzy feeling" while attempting to buy his car indicates that he's a retard and should stick to teddy bears instead of cars.

Welcome to life.

I've lost a lot of respect for you for sticking up for Chris. I mean I'd stick up for my friends too, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you didn't know what all went on on my end of things.

Gotta step in here and stop you guys. Take it to PM's or something.

How about your FB wall? :D

I'm thinking the plan now is to downsize the ZE swap a bit and just get the essentials:
Motor
Trans
OBD1 Harness (already have, hopefully it's complete)
K6F motor mounts (already have)
Headers & wrap
Clutch (might be able to snag Evan's clutch from his Protege6 as he's going turbo now and needs a stronger one for all the new horse pressures he'll be making)
Flywheel (probably just a KF one or something, unless I score a deal on a Fidanza)
Xtremethings ECU (I'm already involved in the bulk buy for the Plug and Play MegaSquirt, but I might sell that and simplify things)
Few other odds and ends, fluids, plugs, wires, radiator, etc

I'm thinking I'll just plop the ZE in this summer and get it reliable and drive that through school until I'm a free man and making the real monies. Then I'll more seriously consider selling the 626 for a Miata to do the build I've wanted to do for a while.

I mean an 89-92 Miata would be the best, as they were lighter, so then I'll need a 1.8L BP for it, and then I'd probably piece together my own turbo kit and shoot for around 250rwhp and 2200lbs. I love the "raw" feeling of the first gen Miatas, so that amount of power would be way more intense in that car that it would be in an MSM. I'd be sitting at approximately 7.333 lbs per hp, which is almost exactly in line with the new Nissan GT-R, which does 0-60 in 2.9 seconds to put things into perspective.

It would cost more to do it myself, and especially to do it right and keep the car balanced, but building it is a lot of the fun for me. And it would be just the way I wanted.

I'm still not sure where the Yota and the 1UZ swap fit into this plan, but I'm pretty sure it'll be after school, unless I come into unforeseen money, as in winning the lotto, a friendly donation, etc. Hint, hint... :D

Yeah, your'e right about the power to weight ratio, but there's a lot of other factors that can greatly affect acceleration time. Launch traction being a big thing. Miatas are limited on tire width that you can easily run on the car. With that, tire selection. 225's are about the best you're going to find for street tires for a Miata. Low weight, big power, narrow tires... gonna have traction issues. From there, gotta factor in shift time. 1st gear will only wind out to about 38 mph or so. 2nd gear. to just a hair over 60 at rev limiter. So... 2 shifts essential to get to 60 (if staying within the power band). Time lost during shifts + traction... Well, you catch my drift.

Launch traction being a big thing.

Oh, I agree 100%. I have no doubt that a bunch of that 2.9 second time comes down to the launch system in the GT-R. I wasn't expecting to get the same 0-60 time in the Miata, and that's not my goal. Drag racing doesn't interest me, but I want something that will set me back in the seat nicely exiting a corner. :)

Heh... that much power will set you back in your seat, facing the wrong way. AMHIK.

Well I'll be buying some stuff on Saturday for the swap. After that, my parts list for the swap will include

OBD1 harness (hopefully complete)
V6 cluster
Under drive pulley
Clutchmasters Stage 1 R clutch kit
5 Speed transmission
K6F poly motor mounts

It's kind of going about it in a weird order, but I buy things as they come along. I may be getting a lot more parts to the puzzle soon, depending on how this guy's partout thread goes on PT.

I always end up buying stuff out of order, lol. Wheels were about last on my list, but yesterday I bought a set of mint SSR Integral A2 17x8's for the Probe because I got a really good deal on them, lol.

Pics or it didn't happen, John. You know the rules. haha
