Price of new rear caliper? $160 or $360

I called two dealers and they both told me something different. You guys and gals would know - which is right?

Also, Napa sells one for $170. What are the experiences with aftermarket rear calipers? I don't race or anything, but I do drive my car alot. I just put new rotors on and just got new rear brake pads.....

Thanks again....

so having no experience with cars, if I order a rear caliper, is that the whole rear apparatus that goes over the rotor or is it just part of that? dumb question I know...

I believe it is just a part of it. The "inner" part is what is on that site. It is the caliper itself. The caliper bracket is the "outside" part. I may be mistaken but I believe that's how it is.

So I am assuming then any caliper that I buy will still work on my old bracket? Any idea how much for the whole thing?

I live in a smaller city in Canada and it may take forever for something to get here from autozone, but I will check into it. Napa is down the road and they say $170...anyone ever use a caliper from Napa?

thanks

The caliper is the piece in the middle. The outside is just the bracket. It has to be for a Protege 5 or an ES model.

I bought a refurbished one for $230 with a $100 core. I purchased it at a local parts store. Napa does have them but their mark up is usually quite high. As far as how they last, I couldn't tell ya. I've never tried the one's from napa but the are oem as far as I know. If you go to a mechanic that has Napa autozone and they install it, you get a good warranty on it and they usually get a discount on them. Try the local junk yards first, then call around to local shops. Try APM, maybe Carquest if there's one around.

Talked to *************** about this. I got my rear caliper from him. $99 with a refuned $110 core.

I called napa autozone and they said just a year warranty on the caliper and 3 month on the labor...I'm going to call around and see if that can be beat. But it is looking like I am going to get the part from them..$176 ($66 core) for everything (caliper and bracket)....I can't pay $450.52 for the Mazda one....

Hopefully it will be good enough!

thanks for the help!

Dude, before you buy you should check in with *************** like Satimko said. His customer service is outstanding (I have purchased from him as well) and he will do his best to get you good prices out the door.

I need a new rear left caliper too (mine's leaking brake fluid) and I was just going to go to Autozone for the part. From what I've read on here (and this is a correct me if I'm wrong statement), it doesn't really make that big of a difference where you get it from.

Price differences really. That and availability. Everywhere local to me had to order it. I'd rather give a small setup like *************** my business, with faster shipping, cheaper prices, and knowing it's going to a guy who's helping out his fellow Mazda owners.
