Price Bummer!

Hassle is exactly right. There are import duties, GST,PST ( sales taxes). As well as saftey upgrades and possibly emissions changes that would have to be done. It becomes less of a hassle if you are importing a car for personal use IF that car is 7yrs old+.

Yeah, and the Candian models gets cooler options. e.g., rain sensing wipers, automatic rear doors, etc.

I walked into a local dealer (Premier) and isolated and purchase the ad car within 2.5 hours. Brand new 5 with 3 miles, basic model, manual transmission. 14,588 our the door. I thought that was a pretty good deal. We love it, had an MPV before but this is our first "new" vehicle. Isn't mazda running a 3K discount right now?

not a single deal here in town, and they were not willing to work with me very much on the price at all. I got it to within a few hundred of the edmonds price and they did give me much more for my trade in than I expected. So I wasn't unhappy. But no incentives and no discounts and no cash back and no nothing right now were a bit of a bummer.

I'd have paid extra for automatic sliding doors, automatic drivers side seat adjustments and those sort of things. could care less about automatic wipers really. Can't imagine why they have such different combinations of things in different places. Do they really think that automatic doors wouldn't sell in America? Where are they getting this stupid information from?

And just because I'm whining here about that doesn't mean that I'm not thrilled with the car, because I am!

Rain sensing wipers and auto headlights are standard on both trim levels. (thumb) (canada)

Rear doors aren't fully 'automatic' as in "power sliding doors" but instead are self-latching, meaning when closed they are "self sealing" and pull themselves tightly shut. I don't miss power sliding doors as these doors are so light they are easy to open (my 3-yr-olds can do it) and the canted track means the doors practically close themselves on level ground.

We DO get heated mirrors on the GT trim, but no heated seats ;-)

No navigation options though, and no HID lights in the offing since we have DRL's to contend with. And base models get 16" wheels instead of 17", though the 16-inch wheels look pretty good too.
