So Im on my way to work about 20 mins ago, and i spot this Impala on the freeway, we're side by side, I reach over, open my bottle, the guy floors it cuz i was constantly next to him, I floor it, feel the spray kick in, lol.

I was walking away from him all the way, it was awesome :D hhahahaha

I've always had a soft spot for those Impala SS's from the 90's...sweet V8 cruzin beasts...but they are just sooo slow...I think they make great family cars...you know just slap on a modest twin turbo setup...push a mere 600-800 hp...20" rims...maybe airbags...nothing special

Hey

My dad has a '96 Impala SS and at no means is that ****** slow. So i have a little disbeliefe in ur story. Are u saying ur Pro can stay with a low 14 second car? And thats where u would pull the SS is from a stop if u would even pull at all. When that car is rolling past say 55mph thats a hard car to beat even in stock form. I raced a stock Supra turbo on top end from 60 to about 115mph and i got beat by about 2 to 2 1/2 car lengths and we all know the Supra is top of the hill when u talk mid to top range racing. I seriously doubt a Pro even sprayin' can stay with that. But we will see what u say.
Peace,
Zane

No hatin'

Not hating i am just saying it would take alot to beat an Impala from a highway speed roll. I'm talking like alot more serious wheel horse power like 180 whp maybe more to do that and i don't think u can put a shot of nos on our cars to sustain such power. U have to remember the Impala maybe big but that thing has 260 hp and 350 ft/lb of TQ i mean this is an LT1 Corvette engine. So i am callig him on it not hatin' just i don't think its possible.
Peace,
Zane

I beleave his story. Maybe the Impala just was not trying. (Even though I want to beleave that he was :D )

The Impala SS was not just a gussied up Chevy Caprice. It also had the Corvette motor in it (slightly detuned) so it ain't no slouch. If I remember correctly, it posted a 0-60 time of 7 sec or less. Not only that, but it handled like it was on rails! Check out its 17" wheels! It was a fast sucker! That car's performance is along the lines of today's Mercury Marauder. Don't mess with those either because that car will run with cars like the Infinit G35 AND handle like a sportscar.

Even today's Impala with the 3.8 V6 and 200 bhp will do 0-60 in 7.8 sec so I wouldn't mess with them too much unless there's a little old lady driving it. :D However, garden variety Impala's with the 3.4 are easy prey for the P5!

wow.. nice.. u know ur s***... see... i never cared enough about american or muscle cars to pay attn to them... i always thought they were ugly... too big... and were only there to compensate because most old white mens (im a cracker too) feeling of "lack-of-penis"

the thing i like about imports is that it is all about balance and efficiency.... making a civic run 9's takes an extremely delicate balance of engine, tranny, chassis, weight, power, blah blah blah.... but all that goes into american/muscle cars is more power more power more power make it bigger... make it stronger... bigger=better.... im not into all that... and plus... MOST imports are MUCH nicer than american cars all around.... LOL!!! how the hell did i turn this post into y i never got into american cars?? oh well.. back to the impala... i still believe him... although it probably was partially driver... he was squeezing... and the impala may not have been in good shape... or for all we know.. he just straight smoked him... 260 at the flywheel probably equals to the wheels what the pro is pushing at the fly... lol.. that made no sense... lets say that w/ the nitrous shot hes pushin 170-190 at the flywheel.... well.. the impala is probably a little over 200-210 at the wheels... not THAT HUGE of a diff.... and the MUCH lighter weight of the p5 compensates for the lower hp... so if there isnt a huge diff between fly on p5 and wheels on ss... it should kinda equal out a little more than were thinking...

basically it seems to me that the p5 is probably loosing ALOT less hp to the wheels than the impala... so w/ the weight... and the distribution of power... things arent that far off... especially when you have a bottle of nos ;)

Hey

Protege '01 MP3 u make good points but u still fail to realize is that with american cars they don't have to falsely advertise like our lil zipper cars do not saying they false advertise but what American car companies put down as hp rating is usually really close ( i.e. with-in 10-15hp) to what it actually puts down. The 350 tq numbers are 338.7 to the ground and the 260 horses is 249.3 whp. So i still don't think the p5 would do it. The p5 with nos might be close in horse power as far as power to weight but the tq of the p5 would be no where close to that of the Impala even with nos. Weight is more but u have to remember once u get the heavy ass car going that thing would stay with the same year SS Camero and even beat the same year Vette, on top end pulls. It even topped out higher then both those cars for mph. So all i am saying is i wanna see it or i want to know that u can put some 120 shot of nos in a p5 without the engine blowing.
So peace,
Zane

Man bro pass over what you are smoking (smoke) uhh okkk..... FYI: a 96 impala SS put's down 260hp and 330lb-fts of torque, so forget about that 350, anyways it weighs in at a 4036lbs which put's it power to weight ratio at 15.52 and 0-60 times at 7.1sec 1/4mile 15.4sec@91.1mph. So im pretty sure squeeezing would kill that car on topend especially tha part when they post the impala SS has struggle at mid to high range rpm band. here read......http://www.raiden1.com/1994review.htm and here's the weight specs if u wanna look;) http://www.edmunds.com/used/1996/chevrolet/impala/4drssssedan/specs.html?id=lin0066

Hey,
I'm not smoking anything. My dads car will consistantly run 14.3's @ 98.5mph give or take and i have even seen a stock 96 Impala best a 13.88 at 101.**. So i don't care what u read i have seen with my eyes what that car can do. And havin' driven my MP3 and seeing that the guy runs 14.99 1/4's i don't think it can do it. I'm stickin' to what i know and i don't think its possible to spray enough to beat the Impala.
Peace,
Zane

PATIO!!! where the hell you at? Your gettin punked over here man, say somethin before I do!

you saw a STOCK Impala SS run a 13.88 at over 101? :bs: no way. NO way.

i still doubt the Pro "walked away" from the SS tho.

while i notice triton has a bad habit of grabbing only the numbers that support his side (i.e. the SLOWEST numbers avail for the other car and the QUICKEST numbers avail for "his"), :) he is accurate here. a stock impala SS was good for low 7's 0-60 and low-mid 15's.

there is no weather or engine abberation that would drop 1.5-1.7 seconds off the SS's time.

when youre the 1st to say something thats new, people have a big disbelief in you, I was there, you werent, :D

that car wieghs liek 4000 lbs, my car wieghs 2700

just cuz you run something in the 1/4mile doesnt mean youre going to be the exact same time on the freeway, im still rolling on stock tires, so gripping from a launch isnt the best quality from my ride. The guy wanted to keep going past 100 (tell me youre not trying when youre flooring it past 100) but i shut it down. I'm not ready to blow this motor on a street race.

liek I said, I was there, you werent, I think i've had the most bs called on me, simply because i race alot and I dont see too many other people that post and have a 75 shot. all i have is intake right now, wait till i get some more stuff, haha.

If I told you Civics could run 8's 10 years ago, would you have believed me?
