power & mpg

140hp isn't that bad, but it seems like the problem is that not enough power is getting to the wheels of our car. So I'm thinking of putting on the cams, switching to a light weight flywheel, and replacing the tires (when worn)and with significantly lighter Z rated ones. The cams produce less friction, the flywheel is easier to spin (8lb vs. 20lb) and the tire combination is easier to turn (can drop 20lb between both fronts). This should put more hp to the wheels and produce quicker acceleration; also should increase mpg since it'll be running more efficiently but not putting extra fuel into the engine. You guys think it's worth it?

My plan in general is lighten the car and then add power.

140 is probably enough for the car, just trim some of the fat to use as much of it as possible.

However, after that, more power is definitely nice.

I've been trying to save my money to get some lighter wheels. The flywheel is definately a plus. I'm not all that interested in the cams yet since there aren't any cam gears to tune them with out yet. And yes, tuning is needed to get the cam to run optimal.

the reason the tires don't spin is because they are so thick. I put 14 inch tires on for the winter and can smoke the hell out of the tires by dropping the clutch also chirp second and almost get third
