2003 Mazdaspeed Protege
Hi everyone. I have a Mazdaspeed Protege. When you at at full throttle the car does not have power. It bogs down. The car sputters at times when you rev the car. I called the Mazda dealer and they said that they are no open recalls on the vehicle. Could someone please help me out?

there are differnt issues that could be happening but check your conections after the maf also spark could be a issue bad coils..list your mods if any.

The car is stock with an Injen CAI. I had replaced the sparks. Do you think its related to the fuel. Someone told me maybe I should get the injectors cleaned.

I also have bad motor mounts. The passenger side, the front and back motor mounts are bad. The engine rocks. Do you think that will cause the car not to pick up on the power?

If you have high mileage it very well could be your coil packs and/or wires. Bad motor mounts can lead to other issues so get them replaced but sputtering under way is not related to that. Spark, air or fuel I suspect is your problem. Is your idle vacuum steady and in the 20-22 range?

The mechanic said that I don't have any vacuum leaks. The mechanic changed the spark plugs and the coil packs. I feel the power but I believe the bad motor mounts causes the jerk when you floor the car which cases the car to bog down in power.

The mechanic did not change the wires. Will I notice a difference if they wires are changed?

Yes, especially if they were shot like your coil packs and plugs were. You can replace them yourself as its an easy DIY thing and so are the plus and coil packs for that matter. Get NGK NGK Premium Wire Set part no 5659.

I have a code for the neutral safety switch. Is that the cause why the rpms drop and the car not to pick up?

I was wondering if this MAF sensor will fit on my Protege. The part number is E5T51171.
