Power Chip?!?!?!?!?!

im hearing alot about these power chips or air intake chip.... do these chips really work??? what these "chips" do is it alters you computer to inject more fuel into the engine under acceleration. It tricks the computer leeting it think you are sucking air at a different temperature on ur IAT sensor. Now this does sound fishy to me but im not familiar with these produces thats y im asking u people.... if anyone knows alot about this chip please tell me if its worth buying!! thanks

also it doesn't make the car sense colder air(not sure how that would ever work), all it does is trick it to think its pulling in MORE air, and there for your engine will run lean and eventually blow up. IMO

okay then for everyone out there whose as slow as i am... do not buy those power chips.... i guess they blow ur car up...but ive heard of some really good ones that do work but those range from 1000$-1500$ not e-bay price of 5$!!!

do you mean a stand alone? because a "chip" should not cost over 1k, only ones ive seen that much are for turbo diesels, and those add like 100hp/300lbs of torque though..

the more air the computer sees, the more fuel, it wont create a lean condition.

BUt yea, theyre a rip off, and its been beaten to death on this forum, a search would yield tons of ebay chip threads.

A chip on ebay will do no good for your car. We do not have real "chips" for our car since no one has cracked our ECU code yet. However, you can get a standalone. For more info on standalones, check out the F/I section.

All the "chip" is is a $.02 resistor that you put inline to the air temp sensor. I'll just make the car run richer than it already is. I wouldn't recommend it for any car.

The only "legit" chip would be the chip from a MP3. Adds a bit of power, but not worth it unless u get a good deal. And typically with N/A cars, chips don't do much (not like the chips for the jetta/audi with 1.8T, like +40 hp for a $500 chip -- you'd be a fool NOT to "chip" it ).
