I've never been a big fan on polarized filters. But like many other arguments, evo vs sti, ms6 vs ms3, glock vs 1911, etc there is a big for vs against.<br />

On that note, I do use UV filters on occasion, such as in the rain(see the night/fog/rain pic), saltwater spray, or any other harsh environmental cases, or in a place that a camera/lense could get scratch etc. For a polarizing lense, I have one 58mm, if I need to eliminate glare I will use it, but for me 99% it is not needed. <br />
If I scratch the filter, I can simply remove it and keep shooting. I feel much more comfortable cleaning dirt off of an $50 filter than I do from a very expensive lens. <br />
I use high quality filters like B+W with their "rain x" like coating, also heliopan has a similar coating. I personally do NOT consider a low end/low cost filter to be acceptable. Many of these exist, do NOT buy them.<br />
