Just wondering how many are in the Dallas/Mesquite area. I'm thinking of moving to this area. I've noticed from other threads there seems to be quite a DFW crowd. I'm thinking about moving after the first of the year. I currently live in central Florida. I have family in the Mesquite area and looking for better life for my family. Hit me up.

hmm mesquite down the street from me. i havent been here long but a couple of the guys from work say that mesquite is getting somewhat bad.

The Move

Well my wifes granny lives there and im looking at neighborhoods around that area. If you guys got any info of better places and are pretty close to mesquite. Lemme know, because i have a child who will be babysat by relatives. That is my limitations. Thanks.

Mesquite is west of Garland right? Garland is getting nicer as the city grows and spreads into those suburbs. Mesquite will probably get there in the next 5-10 years too. The northern subarbs are all nice - Richardson, Plano, Frisco, Carrollton all have affordable housing. If you're looking to rent you could go a little further south and live closer to the city, but then your looking at a longer commute to family and houses get very expensive close to the city.

Like Rich said you should check out dfwmazdas.com for more local meet and member info. Also check out dallasimports.net for a decent local community.

I'm looking to buy a home. I've been looking at houses online around the Mesquite, Garland, and Richardson. That is one of the main reasons we wanna relocate the houses are a hell of a lot cheaper than hear because of the Bastard ass northerners moving here jacking housing WAY up. Also Hurricanes too. Its hard to find a good home here right now for less than $300k

Dammit i just noticed that i'll have to put a tag on the front of my car. That sucks.
yeah thats one thing that sucks about texas. but i haven't had my mp3 or msp tags on for a while and haven't had any problems. in fact i know A LOT of people who never use them. but it is an $80 fine if the cop wants to be a dick.

i grew up in mesquite. it is a great city. it has always been much nicer than garland (IMO). the north mesuite area is the best. if you want to get a race it is very easy. galloway has been an aclaimed street in mesquite for a long time and cars still gather along there. i grew up rolling on galloway with the likes of Kenny Tran. i remember when he was cruzing with the civic with a primer and a parachute hooked up. interesting site let me tell you.
anyway mesquite is a decent place. it has gotten very crowded. housing is very comparable.

Hey a fellow Floridan thinking of moving to Dallas. I say do It we have a pretty large Mazda club here and we would love to see another member especialy me since I am a Native of Florida so another fellow Floridan would be nice for me. I moved here from Brandon about 4yrs ago and I must say its pretty nice but its not Florida be ready for some culture shock. Im still in shock.

One other thing TX DEMON, I bought something from you last year, remember? Now i'm trying to sell it.

Turbo>intercooler pipe right? Yeah I remember. I just sold my old Perrin intake to another guy in Florida.

I've been running without a front plate the last 2.5 years. I've been pulled over 4 times and only got a ticket for it once. That time the guy only gave me the ticket for that and let me go on driving 60+ in a 35 zone. So sometimes no front plate works in your favor. :)

You'll be able to find something nice in all the areas your looking at for way less than 300K. Let us know when you make it out here and we'll all meet up for a drink.

true that. on average (for big cities) you will pay about 200k here for a 300k home in FL.
and for 300k you will get a plenty nice place in mesquite. i will suggest sunnyvale to you if you are looking in that range. it is a very nice place to live. it is bordered by mesquite and the lake: lake ray hubbard. forney is another nice place to live and it borders mesquite and the lake also

Thank a bunch people. I will continue to do more research on places to live and probably be heading out there for a visit soon to check out some employment later in the year. I am looking forward to the change but not the culture shock. Also I am not looking to spend $300k for a home anywhere.
