Mazda 3s
im sorry but as a 3s sedan owner. i cannot see how you would want the hatchback. it doesnt look as good to me and i dont know why many people would want to drive a wagon car. i never really liked hb. hB owners dont hate. just wanted to know if anyone felt the same way.

We are all different. Just like I have the P5 over a regular protege. Hatch looks better in my opinion. But for the 3, I would take the sedan over the hatch. The 3 hatch Just looks too bulky.

I just move too many things to be able to deal without a hatch/wagon.

i just don't like the 3 in wagon form. it's too bloated looking. but i love my old protege5 and my suby wagon.

do these threads ever serve any purpose besides starting flame wars?

plenty of people don't understand why someone would drive a FWD car, or a car with 4 doors...perhaps your choice of vehicle is similarly beyond their comprehension. answer those people and maybe you'll have the answer to your question.

you're certinaly entitled to your opinion; no one can force you to like hatchbacks or wagons, but to say that you "can't see why" someone would like/want to drive one is ridiculous.

for example, you apparently don't have to fit two large dogs totaling ~160 pounds in your car. tough to do in a sedan...they don't really fit in the back seat of my protege, but they fit with plenty of room in my (smaller) corolla hatch.

Matter of opinion and taste. I prefer hatchbacks in general; I think the Mazda3 hatch looks better than the sedan, and same for the protege. The added practicality is nice because I was able to fit my old bike in my P5.

I feel the same way but my boss is going to be buying a hb because he likes them better.

Hell, I don't even really like cars that much. I would much rather be on my bike, but it's really tough getting the clubs to the golf course on one.

Oh, yeah, there is also that little problem with winter; snow, ice, hypothermia...

I understand your reasoning behind driving a sedan. Why is it difficult for you to get your head around others preferring a hatch?

I love~~ hatchbacks! *^_^*

I can't tell you how many large objects I've transported with my RSX
that most people wouldn't dare try to fit in sedans without ripping some
doors apart. (boxed furnitures, snowboards, my guitars, amps, etc.)
I see plenty of 5'2" 110lbs females (really!) driving Hummer-sized tanks in NoVA,
but why would I drive one of them when I can drive something that
is faster, really fun to drive, gets awesome gas milege (although that might change when I get my MS3 lol~), and can carry stuff? (i.e. my hatchback)
SUV-craze is something I don't quite get (so do Europeans).

I gather that you simply aren't inclined to the looks of the HBs (over sedans),
and I respect your opinion. As for me HBs have too many advantages over sedans to ignore on practical stand point. ^_^

For me, i've been with trucks all the time and i felt it was time to move on and look for a smaller car with great MPG and still have great space to put stuff in. I saw the MS3 and instantly knew that was the perfect car for me. High power/torque, great MPG, a lot of space seeing its a HB.

I also consider the aerodynamics seeing that its a smooth line all the way instead of up and down.

Just my 2 cents.

personally i think the 3 sedan looks like it has a small plain buttend, a boring front end and an all around boring exterior. trunk space is really limited to me, moreso than a protege sedan's and rear seat headroom without the hatch space behind it is cramped. oh and i hate the sedan taillights. don't get me wrong, i love the 3 as a car either way and have seen some nice modded sedans. i just don't dig the sedan variant personally.

i own a protege5 and mazda3s hatch and couldn't even think of going back to a four door, for looks and practical reasons.

I agree with you KRM. The sedan's styling is very.......bland while the hatch has a unique styling.

Exactly. Im not a huge HB lover. but im so glad the MS3 came HB because the 3 sedan looks like just another bland idea

Only because there are so few offered in the US marketplace. In the rest of World you can swing a connecting rod without hitting a small hatchback/wagon.

Hatchbacks are great. They have so many positive attributes. I think the 3 Sedan is plain jane all the way while the hatch has personality, good looks, power, and it is so much more practical with a family.

I guess I can't understand how they sell a single sedan when there are HBs on the lot. Our local dealer can't keep the hatchbacks in stock, but always has a ton of sedans. Maybe that's how the sell 'em.

This reply is meant to be serious and joking, the premise of the thread seems a bit pointless. Of course, some like em some don't. Not everyone will see things your way, duh.

.

when i was in car sales for mazda they said the production ratio of hatches to sedans was 30/70 if i recall correctly
