I am thinking about trading my 2002 protege 5 in for a silver 2003 mazdaspeed protege. the speed is priced at 9995, its like 8 hours away. i am going to drive down there monday to look at it. do you guys think it will be a good trade?

Thats exactly what I did.
I went from a yellow P5 to my sunsilver MSP.
I loved my P5 ... the key word being "loved" as in past tenths
The MSP is a sexy beast!

thats what i am thinking of doing also yellowp5 for a silver msp. I am just waiting for the bank to call back with the loan. How much of a power and fun driving difference could you notice going from the p5 to the msp?

put it like this. a modded p5 w/ bolt ons will do low 16s.

the msp i believe does high 14s...

and goes 0-60 about 2 seconds faster than the p5

DO IT!!! I almost bought a P5 from Carmax. (I tested it and loved it). Now I own a Spicy Orange MSP and I gotta tell you, it's ten times better.

Well when I had my P5 I always thought dang .. this thing handles good.
All it needs now is more power. I topped it out at 130 she had more RPM's to go but she just had no more umph left. I don't have that problem in my MSP.
It handles better than the P5 and has twice the power.
Like I said compared to the P5 the MSP is a beast.

havea similar setup on a p5, and the p5 will out handle the msp, by design.

well i wont be getting the msp that i was looking at. the dealer only wanted to give me 2000 for a trade on my p5. but i am gonna keep looking hopefully something will come up.

dandan2 - do you have any pictures of your silver msp? I was recently thinking of trading in my silver 2003.5 for a titanium grey 2003. Maybe i'll change my mind if i see some nice silver ones.

that was only in the 02 proteges... i could be wrong... but it sounds like rod knock...

I've heard some other MSP's around here make the same sound, but that tick is defiantly louder than anyone else's.
The car is at 50,5xx miles

is it a tick or a sputtering sound? seemed like it was coming from the mani...take off the heat shield and look around. might have a loose bolt...if its sputtering might have an exhaust leak.

If i am not mistaken, yellow racer stole the msp that i was looking @ for 2 weeks... The day i called to tell them I was on my way. they told me it was sold =/... but it worked out for the best. I got a cheaper MSP w/ Less miles, in blue, and not my color
