Possible: Custom Forged Cut Gears

Do you think EMCO can make us some custom gears, seing as they have allready make gears for the Mazda G gearbox ?
well I haven't talked to them.... the problem is a lot of companies require buy in and larger volume which makes it rather cost prohibitive.... that's why I'm doing the custom etc... likely the best option... but I'll keep them in mind I guess...

Did I tell you how much I love you today? I've been wanting smaller gears ever since I owned my car!
Love me when we manage to do it... if we don't you'll hate me :) LOL...

The car has always needed a 6th gear.
In its current set up, possibly.

If a custom gear set were made with different ratios, that would not be the case...

Turf, I got 1 quote from a company here in Canada, they said, if we were to get 4-5 people interested, they could make a complete gear set whatever specs we want. Going price approximately would be $3500-$4000 USD.

That price isn't too bad at all... I'm aiming/hoping to get the price to be about 2K for the full set (minus shafts). We haven't seen anyone twist or shear a shaft yet so I'm not too worried about the shafts... Just the gears for now. I should have the gears in the next week or two and then a quote in about a week or so after that.

We may not have heard anyone twist a shaft, but I'm sure it will happen soon now that there are more and more aiming to get above 300, 400, and even 500 hp.

I certainly agree... but it's one of those hurdles that can be left to be jumped a little further out. The guy I'm working with on these can and will do the shafts. I'm just not going to worry about it until it becomes a need. The RandD is just too expensive to burn it up on something I may sell one or two of at a low profit margin over the next year. There are also just so many other problems that occur as we get up there the shafts may not be the biggest worry :)

still don't have gears in hand so I can't draft them so at this point I can't get a quote. I'll move on it as soon as I get gears, but as of right now I'm a bit SOL.
