Popping Sound in Exhaust

Ever since I got my HKS BOV installed a few weeks ago, my exhaust has been making a loud popping sound when I short-shift. It happens sometimes but more often the lower I shift. Is it normal? A WRX sti went by me the other day and revved his engine to show off his BOV and his car did the same thing.

yea its just a back fire, something about the bov making the car rich during shifts or something

first off, search. This has been covered so many times.

Im assuming your not recirculating. This causes a rich fuel mixture b/w shifts, which is causing the popping.
