Don't remind me of the GM interiors....ugh, my parents are still proud of all the money they saved getting 0% on their Intrigue compared to the competitors offerings. God, I hate that interior, and the leather these days is actually borderline acceptable.

If those comparo pics don't say it all, and more...

some old guy is going to be proud to drive that thing.. and have all those buttons..

I tend to use "some good" very loosely....

Again, I'm not fighting on performance, quality, etc. here. Yeah, the new goat hauls - happy day.....

I'm arguing on principle - if you use the old car name monikers, you better damn well live up to it. I dunno...maybe I'm just an old school rodder in the end...GM has no shame...

Why can Ford bring the Mustang back to it's roots and still rock it?
I know exactly what you're saying...but just to play devil's advocate, the old GTO when it was first released was the same way -- just the standard pontiac platform with a big 'ol engine slapped in it. So from that standpoint they did follow the old formula. But I agree, Ford has the right idea in "updating" to the retro look. GM doesn't know WTF it's doing. I have a GM credit card that's maxed out in earnings but there's not a SINGLE GM car that I'm interested in buying other than the vette, which is out of my price range. Pontiac interiors could easily be improved if they didn't use that hard-ass plastic and everything wasn't so "rounded". It needs more "edge" to it.

kind of funny, my mom's lexus is in the body shop getting a small ding removed and now they have a pontiac rental. you could tell the pontiac is thrown together and in the lexus so much attention is put towards the details.

gm is crap. ALL of it's branches are CRAP.

You'd think they'd change the damn stereo design at least once every 20 years.

As for Blaupunkt. Blaupunkt is bla junk. no thanks

If your into tuberware plastic, then GM has the car for you. Maybe it'll keep you fresh or something.

I so loved the ws6 when it came out., So I went and test drove the top of the line model, with every option inside and out you could have. ******* crappiest interior I ever seen in a car so expensive.

that first pic is misleading. It's very glossy. They used a filter on that, and it looks a lot better then it would in person. The next pic is a perfect example of Ponticrap interiors.

As far as I am concerned. If GM wasn't around tomorrow, I wouldn't even notice, yet alone care.

CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP. I have no respect for a company that just won't change.

I helped rebuild and drop in a 500 hp 455 into a 1971 olds 442. Just thought I'd throw it in. The car is such a monster with the new engine in. wtf would an alero remind me of that car... (chair)

The Bonneville is just another victim of GM design blunders. But, don't worry...ole' Bob Lutz will revilatize GM with his super duper, antiquated ideas about what car buyers REALLY want in design. He's such a genious, after all....

Some of Bob's brilliance:

Let's import a car from Australia, don't give it any legacy styling queues, cut its' balls off, and call it a GTO! Or....let's make an Impalla SS, but make if FWD and V6, but paint it black and it'll sell goddam it....or let's take a car that used to rock the pavement and make it into the car everyone will want to drive to and from the grocery store - go Malibu..........or, let's make Oldsmobile Alero's and slap a few with 442 decals and call it a "442" edition, but not expect anyone still alive to know what a REAL 442 is.....

Yah!....good job there Bob'o - you deserve that raise...

I'm just waiting for GM mediocrity to seep into Saab....

(I don't want to hear about common vehicle platforms and global/cost leveraging for profitibility - I'm arguing on principle here. If you're going to make cars that "harken back" to the GM legacy, then do it right.....Ford and Daimler-Chrysler at least have the balls to take concept to market and still be true to the "legacy").

Damn, that TL interior looks awesome, 270 hp, six speed, and lsd, I'll take one in a second. I always thought Gm interiors looked "playskool" like, and am glad to see people agree. It seems gm makes makes the biggest pieces of junk, and still manages to sell them because of incentives and all the loyalists out there who swear by gm(God help them). They also took a great car company(Saab) and ruined them with their " great" gm ideas of what people want. I really hope the same doesn't happen to Subaru. GM only owns 20% of Fuji Heavy Ind. and I want it to stay that way.

please don't ruin soobs!

as for the TL, I'm sorry to say it, but if I could, it would be mine. Yes, it would be mine. I love that car.

Look at the differences here. The pontiac doesnt even come close. Not only is the materials cheap but the design overall looks thrown together and from the general parts bin.

there is an equation that pontiac uses to put together their interiors

cars overall price/weight of the car x .2450987
persons age x number of hairs left on head = number of buttons in cockpit

pontiac sucks... had one, it was in the shop 18 times in 18 months, and still couldn't claim it a lemon because it was 18 diff. problems.. i even got in touch w/ corporate, w/ no luck. i know it's irrelevant to the interiors, but yeah, pontiac sucks, just thought i'd share :)

I had looked at the mini-van Vibe before I bought my Pro5; the interior sucked ass.

I agree though; the Tempest --> GTO was at the right time at the right place though; all companies were doing what they good to throw a car together to put on the streets.

But you'd figure now, with all the technology involved in design and substantially decreased time to market, they'd be able to put out something reasonable.... (blah)

I can only say 2 things here:

firstly, every single gm car now a days sucks, is but ugly in the interior, exterior or both, and are severely slow and underpowered for the competition.

second of all, if the Impala was a rear wheel drive, with a V8 and had a slightly nicer interior, ****, I'd buy it any day and rip the s*** out of the highway.

dimitrios - the funny thing is that the vibe has probably the nicest interior of them all. Except maybe the gto, but i never seen the interior of that in person.

I will say this about GM, they know how to make a tow vehicle. If you need to haul a big ass load, nothing beats a suburban 2500 with its large block V8 that will whip around 12000 lbs behind it, or the duramax deseil and allison transmission, a damn neaer unbeatable pari. Quadra steer improves trailering manuverability, and the two haul mode was their innovation making pulling heavy loads easier by not having to manhandle the transmisssion to keep it in the right gear. My dad and I towed a 6000 lb trailer from CA to Wisconson when i was 15 (had my permit, he had me drive half the time). But damn when it comes to their cars now a days, butt-friggen-ugly. the concept for the pontiag G6 had some smooth ass stylin on it and the concept GTO interior was pretty nice lookin from behind the ropes with the red accents (couldnt see buttons) but from what i can remember from seeing the cars after production, its all watered down and not nearly as fresh (bad tupperware?). If they would fricken stick to their concepts it might be a better line up. And for all you bashing the entire GM line up, lets remember that the new cadillac XLR roadster (and the concept caddilac 16, mmmmmm 1000hp) along with its (and the corvette's) dreamy magnetic shocks are GM products too!

All Pontiacs are ugly pieces of horseshit!!

Damn! It's good to be back!!! (rofl)

Vibe is decent because it's a Toyota!
GTO is not really a GM and that's why the interior's nice!
And the cadillacs still have the crappy grey button radio from a cavalier!

Go GM!

and they find themselfs all innovative when they talk about their "next generation" interior with their tight gaps...they are so way behind! Best example of that is to supercharge a MonteCarlo and not be even close in matching the VQ engine from Nissan!

I wouldn't go that far:
