im thinking of installing a kicker 5 channel amp on the back of the rear seats. but im not sure how its gonna mount. my best idea is get some MDF or masonite hardboard and mount the amp to that, but then what do i do with the MDF? if anybody has pics of how they mounted the amp to the back of the rear seats or any suggestions please let me know. its on a 03 sedan. thanks.

Lift up the fabric on the back of the seats and slide in the MDF board or what ever your using, then just reattacc the fabric. YOu only need to lift the bottom a little, just enough to get the board in there. I would do 1/4 plywood though for a better bite with less hassle.

i see, then i dont need to screw/mount the plywood to the rear seat at all? good to know, thanks.

I mounted both of my amps under the front seats. I can still access all of the setting knobs of the amps with out any problem. To me, this is the best method for keeping things stealth and maximizing space.

the amp is a bit long, though i havent checked out the space under the seat. its a kicker ix405...dimensions are 2.5”H x 9.5”W x 18.9”L.

I was gonna be a wise-ass and just post a pic of my seats, but I don't have one readily available. :) I mounted my amp under the passenger seat, but it isn't 19" long. You might be able to fit it under the seat, but it may stick out a little bit into the rear seat foot space. It will definitely make the floor mat have to slide back, or up over the amp under the seat.
I mounted amps to the back of my seats in my old Civic, but I went the easy route and just mounted the amps directly to the seats. I'd suggest just finding the seat supports under the carpeting covering the backs of the seats, screwing a board to them with some sheet metal screws, and then mounting the amp to the board. It's pretty easy to do. You may have to drill a pilot hole in the seat frame.

I have the hatch so much easier to work in. I did kinda a ghetto setup. It could be so much better. I made a frame of wood around the perimeter of the trunk. i then made a steel crossmember to hold up the floor. Then i made a floor outta 1/2 inch ply. Works very well. Totally quiet and easily removable when i sell the car. Hides my amps and fuses and noone would think to look under it if they broke in. And still fairly light. Plus it carries all my heavy tools.
