Played with an STI

Also, my 130lb GF was in the car and I had a full tank of gas. I should have had my GF get out. Ha ha I told her that and she wasn't smiling.

I tried to race an STI with my 321lb girlfriend in the passenger seat, but I had to pull off the hi-way to the nearest gas station to get her a chilli dog. It really sucked.....
I hear you there man. Did you just get your car or recently move to Plymouth? And if so do you live in the apts. Jefferson at Plymouth?

I know everything. No, I'm Stu's (your neighbor at the apt) friend with the titanium MSP you have seen around that area. Glad to hear you like the car. Any mods planned?

Right on, yeah Stu is a cool guy, love his STi. Lot of mods planned and on the way, but I am piecing mine together slowly since everything costs lots of $$$. Gauges are in, on the way are motor mounts, perrin fmic, vibrant turbo back exhaust, and unichip would be sweet.

Nice, let me know if you need a hand. I've done all my own mods and know the car pretty well. Stu's brother is also a Mazda mechanic so if you ever need anything let us know.

STI is a quick car stock, its quite out of the ordinary to have a "little" Protege pull on it. Just like if an STI beat a Corvette the STI driver would go around saying I beat a fast car. This is what modding is about. You take what you have and make it faster than cars that normally would beat you.

Agreed. Run whatcha brung. (thumb)

on the whole modded vs stock thing. fun is where you find it. I once drove around a ex cop crown vic (4.6). He jumped me by a car length because i lunched at 1200 rpm (no boost). I hit second and boost and pulled right passed him. It was great to crush a high school kid trying to show off for his friends. And when a kid in a motor swaped and gutted civic stuffs you, he doesn't care what you have done to your car. I also have mustangs, which are all about modifing and going out and beat camaros and vetts.

sorry about the long rant, but i always read about why do we have these "slow" cars. I have spent many hours wondering that, and think it is because they are cool, rare, and handle great. If you want to go fast at the drag strip this may not be the car for you.

Kind of a wierd first post for you. I don't think these cars are slow at all with appropriate modding of course. Bear in mind my previous rides were a 2000 Ford Ranger, and then a 2002 Protege LX. So my car feels very quick to me. Especially after hanging with an STI. Eventhough in the grand scheme of things it's not very fast at all. It does bug me though when people complain about MSP's. If you don't like it buy a different car.

If you want to go fast on the drag strip this car IS for you! Read the forums and learn about this car. Put $2600 into this car with Perrin fmic, Vibrant turbo back exhaust, unichip tuned for mods set to 10 psi, and other small items and you can easily see 220-230 WHP which is about what a stock STi runs with no mods. Even with that money spent, you will still be $18,400 ahead of people who buy a brand new STi at $33,000. $33,000-$12,000 for a MSP + $2600 in mods or so = $18,400 (correct me if I am wrong) This car is not slow by any means stock to me. I used to drive a 1994 Beretta Z26 and that was a somewhat slow 3100 V6. Mustangs, Camaros, and Vetts, who cares. As far as I am concerned, I would never consider buying any American cars in my life...(no) ever.
