Plasti-Dip Rims

Ohhh... thought for whatever reason that you laid down a lighter shade of grey or something. You hadn't painted them yet. :)

And Ctrl Alt 5 doesn't do anything on my keyboard. I'm sure I could set up a hotkey / shortcut, but it's easier to just type out "Euros" when your typing speed is almost in the triple digit per minute range most of the time. :D

And the pictures look GOOD! I love that white wheel look. I might have to do this on my truck wheels.

It did look like a new set of rims after i cleaned them :D The cleaning was a preparation for the painting ;)

You really should paint as much as you can with Plasti-Dip, it is amazing stuff :D

Now how does the plasti-dip hold up to tire shine?

I have no idea yet, i'll test it when it's dry overhere :) No point in making shiny tires if it washes off directly ;)

I will definitely paint with Plasti-Dip if I keep any of my old wheels. :D

how many can did you need for the 4 wheels? how did you keep mazda logo clean (Imean the ones in the center of the rim)?
Great job man, I like it.

I totally forgot to mention that!

All the wheels got three thick layers on te outside of the rim and a thin coat to finish it off. After that i gave the inside one good coat (there already was a even coat on the inside from the overspray of painting the outside). For all the layers i needed 3 full cans and a little from the fourth can. If i knew this before i started i would have used a little bit less so that i'd only need three cans :)

The Mazda logo was simple, i carefully pulled the Plast-Dip of the logo after i made a hole in it with a toothpick :D Before i pulled it off i made a slight cut around the edges of the logo with a stanley-knife :)

That actually looks pretty good.
Good????!!! Wow, that Rocks! IMHO of course... I am planning to do the exact same thing... but opposite! kind of like Superman and Bizzaro... but now that I know what to expect, I will definitely move it up on the priority list

P.S. I think you should get some side skirts and wrap them in the same Black and White... it would tie the whole car together, again just my humble opinion...

I've thought about that, but i'm going to wait with that as it's a rather expensive upgrade. The Stickerbomb vinyl is pretty expensive and so are the sideskirts :) Good idea though! :D

So... if you paint the part where the lug bolt contacts the wheel, will the bolt twist the finish and peel it off or damage it? Should you mask that part of the wheel? Where the conical nut meets the wheel?

I would advise to mask it off :) i was lucky that there was little to no paint where the nuts meet the wheel, only one nut-hole had a thin coat on it. I heared it make a noise when i tightened the nut, but it didn't look like the 'damage' was a big deal :)

Edit: The reason for not wanting to cover those holes in Plast-Dip is that i dont want anything between the nut and the wheel that maybe could be dangerous (eek)

Last thursday i finally had some time to dip the emblems :)

Removing overspray is really easy with a toothpick :D

The result!

I still have to remove some excess Plast-Dip from around the emblems, but i didn't want to damage it as it was still drying. Most of it is gone though and it looks great! :D

Looks good! I might have to at least do that on the emblem on my steering wheel to keep the glare from reflecting into my eyes...

Oh, plastidipping that dang chrome steering wheel emblem made my life SO MUCH BETTER when I'm behind the wheel. Getting blinded was really annoying haha
