I appreciate the photos. I got one good piece of info from them. I've been looking at the headlight fit to the hood and noticed your headlights don't fit to the hood well, either. I guess that was a design flaw in all of them. I think the gal is cute, too. I can still remember when I was that young, which was a very long time ago. I like that hardtop. I had one on my '65 Triumph Spitfire; but, I haven't installed one on my Miata, yet. With the roll bar in place, I'm not sure one will fit.

Now, for the damage. It's ugly! Not long after I got my first Miata, a '95, a fellow in a tall van backed out of a parking space next to mine and put a big crease in the door. Fortunately, someone knew who it was and got us together so he could fix it. We have to be very careful about where we park them because big trucks are high enough that the drivers don't see them. i sure learned the hard way.

Sucks to hear you got a wreck'd miata!

I will say though, seeing these pics of miatas on both mazda forums......i'm saving for my own now

sorry about your dent, man. I had a similar incident. my brother backed into mine with his jeep, then a few days later I was rear ended. glad I hadn't fixed the dent, cuz the other dude made it worse haha.

anyways, car looks good with that hardtop on there.

She was up about to get ready for school. i think she was just shootin me a "im gonna kill you" look for takin a pic. lol ya im tired of being blamed for accidents lol RIP 08 Corolla RIP 08 Spectra

*update*

I got an estimate today to get it fixed. it would be $682 to fix the door and use stage two paint to spray the door and quarter panel. But its $691 to fix the door and repaint the whole car! hard top and all. so im gettin a paint job outta the deal lol. The guy does really good work too.

Man, what a deal on that paint job! Mine is going to cost over $3K to have done. I guess the difference is mine will be done by a guy who will paint it to be shown; so, that means taking things apart and putting them back together. I hope your car turns out well. If it's like mine, it needs the paint, anyway.

if you have had it longer than 2 months, why is it still stock? If you have not had it for 2 months,...

...why is it still stock?

Go easy on the fella. Maybe not everyone feels a need to change something that's already right. I rarely change anything on our cars. It seems we can dig ourselves into holes more often by changing things than by just leaving a good thing alone. Of course, that's just my opinion. I try to buy what I want in the first place, instead of buying something that begs to be "improved." The Miata seems to be one of those cars that is OK, as is. Of course, I'm not into racing.

Before you go nuts about my current Miata, keep in mind that it was bought to show and hopefully wins some trophies with. It was a mission minded purchase that will not be changed to improve it other than freshening the paint and seats that are still original. My other two Miatas were bone stock, as I purchased them. I liked them, that way. Maybe he does, also.

Wow thats a chunk of change. I bet it will be beautiful when its all done. And yes, it could definitely use some paint lol. its actually in pretty good condition for how old it is. the original owner kept it garaged most its life. but there are a few chips and deep scratches

Lol trust me brotha im tryin. I got it in december, right around christmas. lol im still trying to recover from the car, christmas shopping, my 4 year anniversary is on tuesday so i had to buy her a gift. lol dont you worry, i got a list of sh*t to put on. but like i always say, All it takes is money. I love the way the car is now, and like jm said, i dont really need to change it at all, but a little more muscle never hurt anyone, right?

After many years of service, they can have their share of dings, scratches, and chips. A fresh paint job makes them look all new again. Yeah, I know $3K+ is a bunch to pay for a paint job; but, the body shops would charge almost as much. I figured at least $2500 for a quicky paint job from a body shop. If the guy really does dismantle things to make it right, it will be worth the extra labor and will be cheaper than specialty shops, for sure. Besides, the car is worth it, to me. I think we'll both be happy with our results.

If you really insist on spending the money for more power, you could drop a V8 into it and be better satisfied with the results. There's plenty of room for one. It is a bit of overkill, though.

Definitely. Ya overkill is a bit of an understatement. I was thinking more along the lines of intake, headers, exhaust and maybe stiffen it up a bit and call it a day haha. I dont need a 'vette trapped in a miatas body or a huge turbo, although i envy those who have them. lol

My car is pretty stiff. I don't like it much; but, it does support the engine well and corners nicely. My back is getting too old for the stiffer ride. However, I guess one needs a stiff suspension for autocross or serious road racing. I found that my stock Miatas cornered better than I could make them do. I don't push the limits like I did when I was a young lad like you. My reaction time isn't that good, anymore. I have a young mind in an old body. :'(

I have to admit the LS6 is a neat engine to have in the Miata; but, I do miss my '06 Miata Sport. It was a refined Miata that was only lacking one thing I really wanted. I bought mine too early and couldn't get the retractable hard top. Drat! If I ever buy another newer one, I'll have that in a GT. I think the hard top sets it off. By the way, I was looking at a Saturn Sky, when I bought my '06 Miata. I went with the Miata because it was so much better built than the Sky. I don't regret it, either. Miatas are great little cars with a very good maintenance track record.

I only bought the LS6 Miata because I want to show it, this year. I showed a LT1 FC RX-7, last year. It did well in the show circuit, around here. I have 15 trophies, with 7 of them being specialty (best in class) trophies, to prove it. I thought a Miata would do better for getting the specialty trophies. I prefer Miatas, anyway. Even if it doesn't do well, it's a keeper. I really like the little fella. I get the looks of the car I really like with the power I really like. I miss the gas mileage, though. I'm getting about 22-24, now.

As for your car, I think you have some dandy ideas for it. If I had one, I'd most likely look at a turbo or supercharger setup, just for the fun of it. I looked at a newer Mazdaspeed Miata before I bought the new one. It looked beat up; so, I opted away from it. I think a turbo would be cool; but, all of that costs a lot of money. Your ideas would be less painful.

You must have a lot of patience to build up show cars. haha a lot of attention to detail, as well as lots of money has to be paid im sure. Do you still own the RX 7? Just curious. As far as a turbo goes, maybe when i buy another car so that this isnt my daily driver (although its tons of fun to drive). That way i can let her rest in the garage and tinker with it on the weekends. And if i mess something up and its not drivable, at least ill be able to make it to work the next day. lol
