Again, huh? I was surprised to find that it didn't feel any faster than the MSP at all, and you have to shift a lot more to get there.
Not that I didn't like the car, it's awesome, and exactly what the miata needed. The reasons I wouldn't trade aren't performance related, but that it's too small and has terrible blind spots and is too spendy for me. I just find it odd that you mention loving the two biggest dissapointments I had when testdriving one.
Sorry but I have to disagree with every point you made.
The shifter is incredible. The 6-spd Miata shifter (and the 5-spd) are highly regarded as two of the best ones around. I don't see how you can even compare it to the truck shifter (in height AND feel) of the Neon.
I drove it a little harder today, and it is a bunch quicker than a stock MSP. It might even be slightly faster than my (lightly modded) MSP (intake, hardpipes, 9psi)...but it is close. Unfortunately, I can't drive them both back to back.
I have no blind spot on the passenger side, and just a tiny one on the driver's side. Did you adjust the mirrors right?
Too spendy? I got mine for $21,000 out the door (tax and fees included). My payment only went up $40 a month. And that is mostly because I put $2K down on the MSP and only $500 on the MSM. If I put $2K down on the MSM, the payments would have been $7 a month more than my MSP.
