very cool. i took diving lessons when i was 13, took all the classes, passed my open water test. in fact, we took that at Morrison Springs in florida (north of pensacola). anyways, all i needed to do was pass my written exam and the freaking school declared bankruptcy and closed its doors like 3 days before the test date.

i would have had to sign up for another school, pay them the fees, do the classes, open water test all over again.. ugh i was so pissed..

i never did go back and get my certification.

Im suprised you couldnt go to a dive shop to take the written test. We took our test at the local dive shop. I dont remember who it was through DSI or something.

yeah, thats what i thought, other dive shops didnt want the liability of giving someone a cert without seeing what they can do first hand... it was a sticky situation...

oh well. maybe again one day.

I was born in Austin & lived there till I was 14, but I'm not sure if I've ever been to the Oasis. If you want a restaurant with a similarly spectacular view that actually has good food, try the County Line (it's off of the highway near the back entrance to Lost Creek...it's been so long since I lived there, that's the best I can do with location). I sure do miss the rolling hills there...a lot more fun than all the flat stuff here in FL. The only thing like that my car has ever seen was at NOPI.
