Phone volume issue

2010 CX9 GT Silver/Blk
I have a 2010 CX9 GT and have paired an iPhone 3GS. The pairing works but there is one very annoying "feature" that my dealer tells me is just the way it is: If I set the car system volume so that the ringing sound and voice prompts are a reasonable level, I cannot hear the phone call at all and need to mash on the steering wheel volume button three or four times before I can hear the call. After I hang up however the system volume is now very high so that it is uncomfortable and I need to reset it down again. This occurs with each phone call.

I cannot believe that the system volume and phone volume cannot be put into synch but don't know how to do it. I couldn't find anything in the manual to help.

Any ideas or similar experiences?

Phone/Ringing volume can be controlled by the CX9 as you said.
However, the volume control is relative to the signal volume that is sent from your BT source (iPhone).
My DroidX has no such issue. My HTC Touch Pro prior to the DroidX had no such issue either.
No problem with my prior phones such as Moto V3xx, SE W600i, ... etc.
It is the iPhone, not the CX9.
Talk to Apple for a firmware fix if Apple is willing to listen to you.

Thanks. I'll check with the Apple store gurus. They are occasionally useful.

Has anyone else with an iPhone had his problem? I'm still running 3.x software so maybe updating to 4.0 would help.

I googled this issue and found that there is supposed to be iphone control over volume with bluetooth. I'll try that today to see if it fixes the problem.

OK, follow up.

Problem solved. When using the iPhone in bluetooth mode (actually during a bluetooth linked phone call), you can use the volume toggle to increase the volume and it will hold that for the next call. If you do this before making a call it does not change the bluetooth volume just the iphone speaker volume, you actually need to be in bluetooth mode to change the bluetooth volume.

And, all the while, I thought Apple's products are supposed to be "easier to use"....
Doesn't seem so in this case.
