Chinese people listen to mostly mando and canto pop
When I was in Beijing, I listened to the radio just to do it and there was Chinese pop rock-y stuff, and they played I'd say at least 60% American music on the channel I heard. I don't know what kind of station it was, and during a commercial brake the guy rattled off something like, "*insert Chinese* Top 40 *more Chinese." Haha, that was all I heard. The most interesting were the songs that sounded modern, and half the lyrics were in Chinese and half were in English. I didn't see any live performances, besides one in Tibet, and that was traditional folk accompaniment for a play/performance.
Phen, I hope you don't think I'm here trying to steal your thunder. If you don't like these bits I add, just tell me and I'll go hide in a corner.
Haha, no worries man! The more info that's placed in here the better. Plus I have an easy reference to go to if I'm out and about and need to re-read anything that may have been put here. For example, I referenced BlueWolf's directions once already.

This. A couple guys I work with here are big into various types of music. They're going to get me some of their favorites, and I'm going to share some of mine. I will say that I'm happy that the people I work with are so nice. Culture exchanges all the time. It's very interesting.

Leehom Wang is one of the most popular. He is American born Chinese. I like his stuff because he tries to incorporate traditional music and instruments in his pop music.
My favorite Mandarin music: Jay Chou, also the co star of hollywood movie Green Hornet. He is probably the closest to bringing hiphop to China, but he also does a lot of pop music.
My favorite Canto: Beyond. They are like a Nirvana of Asia<object height="385" width="480">. Lead singer died in 94 or 95. Career of less than 2 years

I did bring two of the iPods. I've been listening to a lot of stuff that I typically wouldn't. By that I mean, if it comes up on my shuffle list, I skip it. I guess now I feel like I have all the time in the world so I'm taking in every song I can.
Went golfing today and then went to the Hooters near Yashow market. Food is awesome. I just wish I hadn't racked up a 300 RMB bill on my own. LOL.

Haha western food there is expensive...go eat the authentic chinese stuff! Cheaper and you can't get it in the US!

I eat real Chinese food all week. When it comes to my days off, then I eat western food. Mainly because I don't know how to order the Chinese food. LOL. I don't know what most of it is.

Some of that stuff is really difficult to get the inflection correct. Iirc there are 4 inflections for all the words, and they all mean different things. I think if you say "hello" differently it comes out to something about babies and poop, or at least that was what our guide said. Or when Yao Ming came to the US and people were chanting his name, the inflection they [unknowingly] used meant "life I want to take" or "I want to kill you." I think the correct way to say his name was an upward sound at the end of each word, almost like each word is a question.

if you like it then keep eating, some people consider it disrespectful to ask what the food is, especially during business events
While in Vietnam I had a number of different foods that I normally wouldn't have eaten had I known what they were. I'm pretty open about trying new foods though. I had squid, eel, and I think some snake. The food was good, however I have no idea how to prepare it so I'm not going to make it on my own when I get back. I was told that in Vietnam, they typically only eat dog meat near the end of the month for good luck. Not sure if the same applies for the Chinese or not. To the best of my knowledge, I've not had dog. I've had goat though. Seemed rather tough and stringy.
