phantom cracked windshield on ms3

Well, friday I went through the trouble of washing and waxing the car, got it looking all nice again. That night I went out to get gas and a few things at the store, maybe a 10 mile trip. It was a freezing cold night then warm the next day, and when i woke up in the morning (well 1 in the afternoon really haha) I check my car and find a big crack in the windshield! (pissed)

its about 6-10" long and starts from the base of the windshield pass side corner and moves up towars the center. I honestly did not hit anything, it just appeared. could this be some sort of manufacturers defect? if so would that be covered by warranty? man im so pissed....

No way dude that sucks big time! If there is no impact mark (meaning a mark where it looks like something hit the windshield) then they should warranty it. They would have to prove that something else damaged the windshield. I would take it in and not take "no it's not covered" for an answer. Just my humble opinion..... ;)

yeah so i heard from the dealer today, Im taking it in tomorrow for them to decide whether or not it should be covered by warranty. THey did say that if it is a stress crack it will be covered and also taht they had this problem with the B2000 pickups a few years ago too... All I can say is that it better be covered

You mentioned it was cold, then warm. Sometimes a relatively rapid temperature change can crack them. It should be covered. If not, your insurance should fix it with no deductible (IIRC). At least USAA would. They considered a crack a vital safety issue.

MSP had the same problem!! should be coverd!!

well i was in at the dealer yesterday, and even though i KNOW that there was not a rock in my windshield hard enough to break it, they say that there was and that it will not be covered...

*BUT* the service guy did say that he would try and get mazda to cover it under the good will clause since the car is so new (haha) so im crossing my fingers and hopeing for that... word is that hes gotten mazda to replace worn clutches and blown trannies before, so im optimistic

Last week i was driving down the highway. it was about 20 degrees out and nice and toasty in my car when i heard a loud BOOM and my rear windshield had completely shattered. Mazda wouldn't cover it at all but they were kind enough to tell me that i could leave it at the dealer lot for about a month until the mazda reps came and i could have them look at it. anyways i had to fix it out of my own pocket and i still don't know what happen. maybe a rock? or a bb gun?

ouch that sucks man, i must say i feel your pain.

Mazda dealer said that the crack will not be covered by warranty, so except for a minor miracle, it will be coming out of my own pocket. ~$400 for the windshield with the rain sensors from safe-lite. I will be calling mazdausa and tell them my sob story, see if they will find it in their hearts to pay for it

insurance should help on that, no?

I know my glass deductible is like $50 or $100.

state farm requires special glass coverage which i dont have, so standard comprehensive deductible $500
