PG K04 or GT3071R

It only makes sense to get a tune. As you go further and further away from stock with bolt-ons, the more you could benefit with a tune, even a OTS map is better than none. Obviously, it's going to cost you anywhere from $700 (AP) to over a grand (standback) but I think in the end, the benefits will prove themselves as tuners get a handle on this car's ECU.

Very true... But, I wonder which tuning software is doing justice for the speed3 owners. Cobb AP, Standback, or Xede?

It seems like people with a few bolt-on mods get a lot out of the AP.. like myself.. and the people making big numbers with big turbos run the standback.
If i were going to run a big turbo along with other mods i would definatly tune with the standback..

Although.. the ProTuner for the AP is just being released and you can custom tune just like you can with the standback..

Txs for the info...

on the stock tune with just about every mod except turbo mani and turbo my a/f ratio is bonkers. everything reads ok at light throttle and idle but once you get on it i hit 9.2's and s***. plus even running from 3k rpm and letting the turbo boost at a brisk pace to WOT i get backfires and pops and stutters all the way through. i tried to run my v103 stage 2 93 octane cobb tune on my ap and my fp s**** the bed. im waiting to get my fp internals and replace those to get a proper tune because my car frankly at WOT runs like turd. just my story for your pleasure. cant let everyone get away with dont run a tune your car runs great. i know im not the only sob story out there. good luck. sounds like your cars gunna tear some asphalt.

you should have had the FP internals way before you were fully bolted, like when you did the downpipe.

If you want an AP and are not within the range of a shop with a dyno that KNOWS how to tune a MS3/MS6 that has the protuner license for the MS3/MS6, your only choice is to run an OTS map. With an OTS map, it seems like the only people benefiting from the AP are people with the exact mods required for that specific map. Anything different throws the tune off, hence why the OP just said he was backfiring, running like s***, etc. The standback, right now as it is, will not necessarily get you more power if you are fully bolted. The car does not respond like that. What a piggyback like the standback or XEDE will do is get you solid boost control, get you out of the 9-10 AFR's, and the built in ability to control meth.

It obviously is beneficial to lean the car a little and make the AFR line nice and clean at WOT, but there are a handful of people, fully bolted BT only running the CP-E flash with a MBC and making just as much power as the 'tuned' guys. Nobody has quite unlocked this ECU yet...

You do have a couple of other options actually ... can pay Cobb $175 for an e-tune or a shop like Surgeline will also do an e-tune for you for a price. You send them datalogs, they adjust and send you back a tune to upload.

Interesting, I just haven't seen many results from this tune. Other than Laloosh's little comparo between the AP and the standback...and we all know how that went...

there was no reason for me to get the fp internals back when i did the dp. if the fp could supply the power why change it? i had no indication of the fp causing me any problems until i ran the ap tune and hit fuel cut. the only problem i had was running rich at WOT but on a stock tune give me 1 person who isnt. (rhetorical question in case you know (1). lol.) again, no reason for a fp.

im just saying, and my point was, not every person can bet on not needing a tune esp. when replacing the stock turbo and going fully bolted. a select few will be alright but your car WILL run better with a correct tune. the majority came in saying they arent running a tune. i ran into a problem where i need one, i guess im just that guy. haha

I was just saying there are big turbo guys running on the stock ECU with a MBC putting down just as much power as the standback guys.

IMHO, I think the FP should be a mod that is of high priority if you are planning to do anything more than a DP. It honestly could not hurt to make the pump flow better. Might as well get it done sooner than later. You are at the point where you can't drive the car how you like it because you are lacking the fuel volume, doesn't sound very fun IMO.

its still cool to drive. im going to be getting quite a bit more hp and tq out of the fp and map. idk...i cant afford sooner than later so i do it in steps. when i need it, i buy it.
i know what your saying...but i feel your laying down a safe guard and allowing your car to run at its safest/fullest potential with a standback or ap. just my 2 cents. i would do it. but its not whether i would and you wouldnt...i guess its up to the guy whos doing it. just giving a personal opinion that being able to adjust your vehicle to adjust and be mod specific is a good idea. do you need it? no. should you get it? i think so.
