PG K04 or GT3071R

Just doing a search on google I really only found the CPE standback. It's full standalone engine management system. Which is what I would go with, don't waste your money on other pieces that wont be usable as you get further and further into your modding.

It's too bad that AEM doesn't make a full stand alone, but other than that you're looking at simple a/f computers.

Txs for the info.

Did you ever dyno on the PG K04 tru-boost? Any comments on the comparison to stock K04?

Thx

I did a baseline and then dynoed again with the reworked turbo ans CS downpipe. I did them both at the same time to save a hassle. The combo gained 32hp/30tq.

The standback is not even close to being a stand alone EMS. Its a signal modifying piggyback tuner. If you are keeping the k04 i personally say piss on tuning it. Its gotten me this far. I plan on pushing close to 400whp with 20psi + nitrous this year. The install is almost done infact. No tune done here.

I am assuming you have internals done/ or going to get done on your car if you plan to be pushing 400whp?

Nope, stock block. I have high hopes thats all ! I think my wet nitrous kit will make more power than a big turbo and be a whole lot safer because ib adds its own fuel. We will know within a few weeks if i am right. If i am wrong... It blows up.

good luck with that. I remember asking Ken about the threshold of the PG K04 & he commented roughly 350hp.

Thats the max power the turbo can make, thats all. If i spray the motor to over that level, it wont hurt the turbo any. The stock rods/pistons may not like it, but we'll see !

if you go for the Big turbo route..get a turbo manifold with EWG setup and run the gt3071 at 16~17 psi and i think you will be fine, just don't up the boost more. and another good idea would be to do the BSD and oil baffle.

people really need to check their facts before they start answering people's questions. There have been several examples of people running BT without a tuning solution, only a MBC. There is something in the ECU that is holding back. No one has been able to top 386ish hp on this motor. THAT RECORD WAS DONE ONLY WITH THE FLASHES FROM CP-E, NO STANDBACK/XEDE/AP!

on the stock tune with just about every mod except turbo mani and turbo my a/f ratio is bonkers. everything reads ok at light throttle and idle but once you get on it i hit 9.2's and s***. plus even running from 3k rpm and letting the turbo boost at a brisk pace to WOT i get backfires and pops and stutters all the way through. i tried to run my v103 stage 2 93 octane cobb tune on my ap and my fp s**** the bed. im waiting to get my fp internals and replace those to get a proper tune because my car frankly at WOT runs like turd. just my story for your pleasure. cant let everyone get away with dont run a tune your car runs great. i know im not the only sob story out there. good luck. sounds like your cars gunna tear some asphalt.

It only makes sense to get a tune. As you go further and further away from stock with bolt-ons, the more you could benefit with a tune, even a OTS map is better than none. Obviously, it's going to cost you anywhere from $700 (AP) to over a grand (standback) but I think in the end, the benefits will prove themselves as tuners get a handle on this car's ECU.
