Peice of key stuck in ignition- 94 Protog LX

Need help bypassing ignition- 94 Protog LX

Alright, if anyone can help me tackle this one successfully, I'll give you five bucks via paypal. (s'all I can afford) I got my '94 Protege LX home from where it was stranded this morning because it somehow magically cranked up when I wiggled the other end of the key against the broken off peice inside the ignition, but this is no permanent solution because it took me thirty minutes. So, I have disassembled the ignition module and tried to crank the car by turning a screwdriver in the female socket inside the now detached part of the ignition switch (see attached picture). This method lets me change to the different modes (Lock, ACC, ON,) But when I try to start the engine the starter motor spins but the engine will not crank, It could not be a problem with the starter or anything because I successfully cranked the engine again after trying this method by magically wiggling the key again. what am I missing here? Please help! Any suggestions are welcome, Thanks! =)

a new ignition cylinder, or what kind of cylinder? It doesn't matter. I know I need to get new parts eventually, that's not my question. For now I just want to rig the car to crank and turn off and be able to crank again, I have about a week to move 350 miles from here. Please help me with my question.
