Please Help!! I don't want My Car To blow UP!

My name is charles and i have just purchased a NITROUS EXPESS 20923 Stage 1 EFI Kit!

For people who do not know it's a wet kit! :-)

I have a Protege5 2002
2.0L engine

w/ the mods listed below!

Well my question for you or anyone out there with a MP5 who's running a wet shot!

IF i Run a 35 Shot...will i wind up w/ problems down the road?

Thanks...

chas

PART 2!
What i have really noticed from being in this forum...is that most people who blow their engines using Nitrous:

1. Driving a MP3! which as everyone knows the advanced timing is the problem!

2. The Run Tooo Large of a shot of Nitrous on a stock setup!
-or spraying alot over a period of time!

3. Use the wrong set of plugs(platinum) and wrong gapping!

4. Using cheap fuel (89) instead of 91 octane!

Any juicers have any suggestions for me to keep my car running in good shape while i am squeezing????

Please HelP!!!!!

have refered you to a member named "celticbass." He had a wet NX setup, and I will try to lead you to patio. By the way, Patio is a major member at the Houston-Imports Forum. I sent him a PM out there linking to your thread. Hopefully you will get the answers you need! :D

thanks allot Linux....

I see you still whipping peoples asses w/ your turbo setup!

That's sweet as hell...I wanted to run a Turbo...but i don't have that kind of money and knowledge of a car yet...this is my first import...and my second manual transmission!

But i have read Many of your kill stories...

I will Post of few once i get this installed properly!

I have already sent a message to cleticbass.....i did a search for Nitrous and found all the people that talk about Nitruos

Why did u give up on Nitrous?

chas

P.S. do u have any tips on shifting and squeezing in what gears...and what gears not to?

I gave up N20 for something a little more.....linear to the engine's throttle, and something that is accually grafted to the engine. After I blew my engine (melted Piston), I was pretty un-inspired with Nitrous. $4,000+ later! I replaced that engine with a J-Spec FS-ZE engine which yielded little success in speed as I could not tune it in a cost effective manner. I ened up having to get that engine overhauled later in the year due to cylinder wall damage that led to oil loss and spun bearings. I spent another $4,000 geting my engine overhauled, and ended up back with the same power I started with stock due to the fact that I put the stock compression pistons back in. If done right Nitrous can be fun, and effective, but if done wrong, it's gonna cost ya! I went ahead and put on the turbo kit, and have been very impressed with the power delivery. More than what the nitrous gave me.:D You may not have the money now, but with the money you spend on N20, you can save up for a stage 1 kit from Spool-Turbo that is about $2700 and add more as you get the money. If you speak to Patio, I don't think he trys to spray very often, but I boost every day! The choice is yours! Just laying out some pros and cons. Remember Nitrous without solid fuel management (not zex!!) is just asking for problems!

-Patrick

P.S. On shifting and spraying: If you spreay in 1st gear, you will spin the tires with a 50 shot unless you have some type of progressive controler. You generally want to start from 2nd gear when launching, and don't spray for more than 15 seconds.

Can someone (moderator) please move this thread to the Forced Induction section, and leave a link?

Hey Linux....What do u mean by Launch in second gear...

Wouldn't it be better...to rev & accelerate on first gear than shoot on second??

What type of spark plugs do u suggest...do u have a part # by chance...i am going to have this installed by next saturday!

Also...do u think ordering the Sparcko wires would help out preventing detonation???

I mean start spraying in second. Launch in 1st!

The plugs you get should b 1-2 heat ranges colder: NGK BKR7E-11/1283

I don't believe wires will keep you from detonation.

I been running a 75 shot for a long time now, i use to do it 1 bottle every weekend, but im kinda broke recently, anyway, ive never had any nitrous related problems at all.

the motor is still running perfectly.

what i do is, launch at about 4K, wait till the car grips, then spray in 1st gear, then just shift shift shift, Ive sprayed in a 5th once, but i wouldnt recommend it since you might be running too lean then.

from what ive heard, the ecu automatically retards the timing in the higher rpms/mphs, could be wrong, but if anything that should be a security for spraying in the higher mphs, i usually take it to about 90-100, nothing past that.

anyway, 35 shot is fine, 50 is great, 75 shot... nothing bad yet! :D see results in sig

Thanks for Replying Back...

I figure that i will run a 35 shot...for now...and keep checking my plugs...and when i am sure i will go w/ a 50 shot!

Did u start with a 75 shot?

How long u been squeezing?

How many Bottles?

How many miles do u have on her?

What spark plugs are u running?

I heard many people say to use NGK's....or autolites...

I am running bosch platinum 4's...i hear using this spark plug is bad while squeezing...

which NGK's are good to use? there a few!

Where did u mount the bottle???

I have a big Band Pass Box with a 15' subwoofer in it...

I want the bottle to be sort of hidden...so that if cops/my mom ever looked in my trunk they wouldn't see it...

Thanks for the help

hey guys-
sorry for the long wait, but ive been out of town and such.
on the n2o kit, i have had zero probs with mine , and ive been through 5 or 6 bottles now. if you are puting the kit in your self, remove your fuel line and replace it with a rubber one, b/c the stock plastic line wont seal around the "T" I run a 50 shot, and the only person ive heard of running higher on stock stuff and not blowing is patio. be sure to run high octane gas( i sprayed on 89 once and thought i might blow up) be sure to get 1-2 range colder plugs (non platinum). umm never spray under 3,000 rpm
mount the bottle like the instructions say, the siphon wont pick up nitrous correctly if you dont... correct- wires wont affect detonation or anything...also, you REALLY need to get a bottle heater, - it keeps bottle pressure up and makes it hit hard EVERY time, blows my mind.... anything else? let me know!!

Acidbag, on the plugs you PM'd me about, Spool-Turbo carries them:

Part number BKR7E-11/NGK1283

FMProtege has some 2 heat range colder plugs too, but extended. They have seen some HP gains from these. They have a different part number though. Call for details.

i started with a 50 shot, since june, countless bottles, 16,000 i started spraying around 5,000, lol. NGK plugs - one heat rage colder, bottle is in the hatch mounted horizontally, get a custom box made.

Happy Spraying!! :D

btw, my clutch is stock. keep the octane high, never spray below 3,500rpm, and never do a high speed run with the n2o on.

I finally found those ngk plugs...they were 3 dollars a plug...and they are just like yours...1 heat range cooler!

I removed the Bosch Platinum 4's out yesterday...they were very dirty!!

They even had brown stuff (rust)!
and i was like :wtf: ...anyone know why it would look like that...i replaced them not to long ago...about 1 month....

Hey Patio....Do u have any pics of how u mounted it???

I would really appreciate this b/c of the large box i have in my trunk...

if you are puting the kit in your self, remove your fuel line and replace it with a rubber one, b/c the stock plastic line wont seal around the "T" I run a 50 shot

I am having it proffesionally installed...but i will remember to tell the mechanic to replace it with a rubber one...

Does anyone have the guage of the fuel line?? or how long i will need??

Thanks

chas
:D
Three days and counting!

im not sure of the gauge of the line ,b ut you only need foot and half, maybe almost 2. i used fuel injector line, just unclipped( the stock line has these NICE little on off clips to unhook it) it, and took it in to Autozone and they gave me some cost like 3 bucks.
you can also drill a hole in your fuel rail, thread it, and run the fuel solinoid out of that. This way tends to have a higher/stronger fuel pressure, but seemed a little too permanent for myself. let me know if you need anything else.
