passenger side axle rattle?!!

I was getting a lot of noise from my transmission when i was accelerating went to check it out and the half axle that connects my passenger side axle to the transmission has a little bracket on it where it connects to the tranny case that broke loose and is rattling like crazy when I drive, is this a serious problem or can i drive it like this for a while? The axle is still in place and I havent noticed any changes in traction or drivability
