easier than i thought it would be... just had to take all the screws off and the bottom comes off (the old intake). doesnt really do anything other than leave me room for the IC pipe later on. but was just curious to see how it came off.

my speed friends got a kick out of the plastic manifold.

I've been meaning to try this myself -- the screws are all on the part you removed? It's not attached to that back part?

just remove the big screws (you can see where they are gone in this pic) the hardest one if the one behind the cover. so take off the front and side left and then you can move the cover towards you giving you room to get to the one behind. also unlatch the latches or whatever. then the whole bottom will come out and off your manifold. this was my inspiration

So isn't that plastic part that's still there, attached to the ecu, just floating now? It's not tied down to anything, unless you thought of a way to make it tied down

Don't get why no one has lost the whole thing.
Can't wait till the new year so I have some money for an intake. Mount the ecu somewhere else and get rid of that chunk of plastic.
Unless someone knows of a good reason not to that is.

i just zipped tied it to the hose next to it. doesn't move or anything.

I have thought about that quite a few times as well, but I'm trying not to do any mods that can't be returned to stock in case I ever want to sell the car.

OEM parts for this car are dirt cheap (go figure...thx japan =] ) so now im not to worried if i decide to go stocker.

Now, thermally insulate the intake to keep the air going into the engine cooler. Every 10 degrees cooler is a 1% horsepower increase.

Just a quick note, as I asked at my dealership. That whole plastic assembly (including the Ecu itself I believe) is a $1500 part. (no I didn't add any zeros). Obviously a huge markup but it gives me incentive not to permanently damage or modify that box

it comes in 3 pieces
>the part i removed which is the air filter prebox
>the air filter
>the top cover
>the ecu
the last 2 are together and you have to go custom to get them separate.

my dealership had no problem with it he just stated make a bolt or something to hold the top piece now instead of ghetto riggin it with zips.

this has a list and prices for parts. dont know if they are more or less elsewhere but this is just the first thing i picked upon google.

its like 110 bux for everything i want to take off (if i include nuts and bolts) i dont see a list price for the top part with the ecu, but the ecu you can get for a few hundred and im sure that long plastic piece is around 50-100.

im saving everything now so i dont plan on buying anything other than the old pipe and old intake duct.

Me and my friend actually thought about cutting off everything left of the ecu...I hate not being able to actually see any engine parts. Just a giant plastic box. it looks nice like that but since i'm not gonna be selling my car ever I'm gonna go all out on it.

The upper plastic that have the ecu in it comes only with the ecu from the dealers..... and guess how much it costs.....
Its way more easy to custom builf an enclosure for the ecu and place it by the side of the battery.
