Part number 2010/2011 CX-9 Audio Headunit w/ BOSE

I recently bought a CX-9 / 2010 model, nice car. The car even has the BOSE soundsystem. Unfortunately the previous owner replaced the stock audio headunit with a miserly aftermarket one, thereby disabling the BOSE. I want to backfit the Bose system, swap the aftermarket for the original BOSE headunit. The stock head-unit was TG12-66-9RX, an EU specific derivation. I live in Switzerland, Mazda CX-9s are rather rare here, there is no aftermarket for parts, neither is in Germany . But there is a market for it in the US.

Hence the question : does anybody know the part number of the stock audio headunit for a BOSE soundsystem on a 2010/2011 CX-9. or even have one to sell? (the US equivalent to TG12-66-9RX)

This was my first thought as well. Something like this is currently in (an old WIN CE Unit) , connected with a bit of creative writing, but not connecting the BOSE-amp (only playing through some front speakers). As plan B I consider replacing it and adding http://www.metraonline.com/part/MZTO-01 to connect to the amp. If I’m not mistaken then a forum mentioned that the BOSE-amp uses a differential signal for input. Hope the MZTO-unit translates it.

But I’d still miss the Subwoofer as it has a separate connector (getting its signal through the 16 PIN connector and needing a signal to trigger the woofer relay)

In either case, these aftermarket units don’t have the buttons for clock-setting and setting the info computer (mpg current, average, remaining distance etc.) for which I have not found a workaround yet.

With all these variables plus the steering wheel controls I’d rather create a proper baseline, back fitting the original headunit, hence my search for one.

I was given this partnumber for the original unit by my dealer TG12-66-9RX. I am also in the partially unfortunate situation that I have a 2010 CX9 (otherwise very nice car) with a cheap looking, partly working keenwood navigation head unit. It appears that this unit is sold through autorized dealers at something like 1500 EUR. I have however come across a couple of russian dealers selling it for a more reasonable 550 EUR - these pages are however only in russian and I am not sure how reliable they are. I will continue to look for an original unit and will post here if I have any luck. Perhaps you would also be so kind as to keep this string updated.

You could check out the PAC harness to retain the amp and display info options. The only negative is on the CX-9 with amplifier you cannot adjust the subwoofer settings.http://www.pac-audio.com/productDetails.aspx?ProductId=1142

Hi Gtech, looks like this is what the doctor ordered, thank you. Do you have one of these?
It does not connect the Subwoofer yet or at least I don't see the respective 16-pin connector on the Pic, but by description it should do everything else. (I see that it re-programs the SWC radio buttons for the clock setting. What OEM LCD screen is the unit relying on, the only LCD screen in my MAZDA is the one on the headunit I want to replace.)

I have one in my 2015 CX-9 without Bose. It uses the display above the radio which shows the temperature, mpg etc. Google RP4-MZ11 and you will find some YouTube videos on it. I am not sure exactly how it integrates with the sub woofer but it should work. The Bose head unit that corresponds to the part number you referenced looks identical to the U.S. Bose unit. So I'm assuming that it has the color 4.3" 'Multi-Information Display' like the one on my 2012 CX-9 GT. You also pair and operate a Bluetooth phone with this display and, on models with a backup camera, it is shown on this display as well.

The part number for the Receiver/Head Unit in my previous post is TG17669RX (may be shown as TG17-66-9RX). When I saw the price, I was blown away! The MSRP for that head unit is $1,709.18 and the lowest price I could find from OEM Mazda parts dealers is $1,168.84!!!

 The price for the Navigation/Sound System unit is $4,426.80 MSRP! Can you believe that???

Both prices sound insane to me but I verified them on at least five different websites. If you want to buy the one pictured above, I highly recommend buying a used/salvage unit. You can get the same unit from a wrecked/salvage 2012 CX-9 for less than $350! I use the website car-part.com to find and purchase parts from salvage cars and it searches thousands of different automotive recyclers (the modern name for 'salvage yards') in the U.S. for the part(s) you specify. Some of them will ship out of the country, it's just a matter of checking with each one who has the part you want at the price you want to pay.

If you're interesting in seeing what is available, follow these instructions--
Go to car-part.com
Select-
Year
Make/Model
Select the part- in this case, you'd go with the generic Radio/CD
Then select All Areas
Sort by Price, Condition, etc.
Then enter a U.S. postal code (if you don't know one, use 30080, which is a metro Atlanta zip code)
Then click on Search

The next page will list every audio system option on the CX-9 and you'd want to select the one based on the part number- TG17669RX.
Click on Search and youll see all with that part number that are available. Youd need to contact each individual company to find out if they will ship to your location. But its well worth the effort to save almost $900!

Oh yes I can believe. Asked my local dealer for a price on fitting an original radio - 2000 USD! that did include removing the existing unit..... I will look for a used one, and if they don't ship, the price difference can pay for a small weekend trip overseas..

Does anybody know if this head unit will work with an aftermarket backup camera?

I curently have a 2011 cx-9 base model and would like to replace the OEM unit with this Mazda OEM unit and add a back up cam.
