painting heat shield

damn Bman ur car looks awesome man. s*** REAL CLEAN. But yea im thinking of coloring mines black too. What type of paint did u get? what brand? i got some but it doesnt say anything aobut the degrees.

i say dont. itll look nice at first, but the color will warp, same with brake drums/rotors/wutever haha. but idk, thats my suggestion, just sand it down for a nice polish - chris

wait a minute so you can drive w/o the heatshield? I thought it was there for a reason to protect the exhaust manifold or something?

no u cna drive wiht out. Its jsut a shield. I think it protects from water or something. you can take it off and rive around.

I painted mine about a month ago to hide the discoloration. I used a 1200 degree paint that very closely matches the exterior color of the car (that just happened to be a coincidence. I was trying to maintain a stock look). I just gave it a light sanding to remove any build up and wiped it down thouroly. I have yet to observe any chipping, peeling, fading, or discoloration. I need to do the one on my Miata because it looks like hell.

Yep, looks like my heatshield. Now paint the radiator brakets red, the valve cover red, put on the factory red strut tower bar, and paint the car yellow and you have my wifes car. I think your valve cover is made out of differant material than mine. There are all of these weird swirls on yours. Is it the paint?

i have an '02 ES so it didn't come w/ one. i should be having one on the way shortly though

You'll notice a differance in the handeling when you do.

that's what i'm hoping for. plus i have the eibach pro-kit springs sitting in my room and i'm waiting for my tokico hp struts to come in so my suspension will soon be finished.
