Painting emblems

yeah here you go...

Make sure you thoroughly sand down the silver completely off of the flying M. The best thing to do is to get to the plastic under it. Once nice and smooth, use some primer. The best kind of primer is the stuff that fully dries under 15 minutes. Spray it a bit. Let it dry. If there are any imperfections, sand the primer and then primer it again. When that all works, I would use RUSTOLEUM paint. This is the only paint I have had good experience with. Get the kind that dries in 15 minutes to an hour. Spray a light spray. Wait a bit, do it again, wait a bit, do it again, wait a bit then get some nice clearcoat. I would clearcoat the rustoleum color you choose ONLY after like 4 hours. Do the clearcoat twice and let it sit overnight.

Alright, since we've started this thread up again.... what is the best way to get the one off the grill in front. Someone told me to just pull it off, and the clips will release it, but it feels like its going to break.

I poured 3m adhesive remover around the edges and let it soak for a while. Then I gently pried it up using a plastic scraper.

on the front one? i thought it was clipped into the grill... huh... maybe i'll try the adhesive remover though

There is just two pins into the honeycomb grill. They are not clipped in. The adhesive used for these is weak and I was able to get it off by just slowly prying at it. Try a blow dryer on it to soften the adhesive...

alrighty, i did it not to long ago, just pop it off with a scrwdriver, it wont break....and you cant sand down the the plastic under it, because the whole thing is silver plastic....just sand it so it makes the part youre going to paint rough so the paint will stick better. i used "Brite Touch" general purpose primer and Rustoleum paint...

So there is adhesive too, is it by the pins? and are the pins clipped, or just used to align it straight?

just two pins to keep it straight. the adhesive is like a thin double-sided tape in the shape of the M
