I'm trying to install two Yakima Raptor Aero bike mounts on my 2002 Protege 5 using the factory installed crossbars. The fit-guide claimed the included Universal Mighty Mounts would work, but when I went out to install it today I realized that the hex bolts were (1) way too close to the roof of the car and (2) going to interfere with my sunroof's tilt function.
I don't want to have to reinstall the mount every time I want to use it, and I definitely don't want to have the sunroof be a button-push away from shattering against the bolts. I'm not committed to the Raptors but I got them on a good deal. What alternatives are there to the Mighty Mounts? Any solutions?
