Hey guys,

I've been working on my p5 for the last few days getting a remote start installed.
I've wired up everything and it all works except im unable to find the Door Trigger wire.. Has anyone done this that could show me where its at with a picture or something?
I've got a 2002 mp5 manual trans. Also, what have you done with the clutch wiring? I cant get mine to start unless i press the clutch in, and the installation manual doesn't say anything about it.

Cheers

you need to install a relay to bypass the clutch switch during remote start. Pretty easy to do if you know how to wire a relay and understand how to do this kind of stuff. What kind of starter did you put in? Is it a model designed for manual transmission?

Yeah, I got a Bulldog Deluxe 500, has manual trans mode but everytime i want to start the car i have to do a stupid exit car procedure or it wont start. Essentially it just makes sure the car is in neutral when you exit so you cant start it in gear. I've heard bulldog isnt the best, its not a Viper system, but it'll do for my p5. I still need to wire in the power lock/alarm rearm, and i need to finish up wiring the headlights.
I used a relay to take care of the clutch, no problems there.

Anyone have an idea as to why i can unlock, but not lock my car with an aftermarket system?

The unlock relay is working, it says to just wire both in for lock(-) through a 1.5kohm resister, and for unlock(-) straight into the green/red relay wire..

Has anyone run into this issue that can shed some light?

Lock is through a 1k resistor, not 1.5K. Also did you use relays to isolate the lock/unlock wires to the car?

Tape 2 relays to each other side by side. wire 12volts to pin 85 on both. wire ground to pin pin 30 on both. wire lock wire to pin 86 on one and unlock to pin 86 on other. wire a 1k resistor from pin 27 on lock relay over to pin 27 on unlock relay. run a wire from pin 27 on unlock relay to green/red lock wire in car. this is assuming lock wires on your bulldog starter are negative. If they are positive, use ground instead of 12 volts for pin 85. The way this works, when you send unlock command, it activates the unlock relay sending a ground pulse to the wire in the car. When you send lock command, it activates the lock relay which sends a ground pulse through the 1k resistor to the wire in the car.

Buy compustar if you have 5 speed, they have 3 in 1 sensor with an accelerometer built in...Just ordered one and am curious to see how I like it compared to Viper and how well the accelerometer works....luckily we have a long strip behind my work I can test it with to see how far she goes.
