P5 CV Joints

I have a 2002 P5 with 68,000 miles. I am getting a "clunk" when I reverse with the wheels turned to the left.

I suspect a bad CV joint, but I climbed underneath and inspected the boots (all 4) and do not see any sign of cracking/tearing or grease.

Any thoughts?

maybe the wheel hub bearing is contaminated

I had a clunk when turning tot he right while going forward or in reverse, but only when I hit a bump while turning, turned out to be my sway bar linkage. I also had a bad drivers side front wheel bearing but that made a different noise, the clunk was the sway bar linkage.

A guy here in AZ had about the same mileage as you and it turned out to be the wheel bearing. Sounds like what you have.
