P5 cargo area width?..

I looked at a P5 today, and am very impressed. One thing that I noticed, though, is that the cargo area appears pretty narrow because of (1) the styling and (2) the design of the wheel wells. In fact, it appears narrower than in my Civic hatch, and that's a bad thing. Could anyone tell me the max width of the cargo area between the wheel wells?.. I sometimes need to transport pretty bulky things and it's gonna be a bummer if something that fits into the hatch of a Civic would be too wide for a P5.

Thanx...

38" I believe. I made a custom box to fit the cargo area and the width of the hatch is either 38 or 39 inches!!!

Yep, just checked it....the opening itself is 44" at its widest point, but inside the space narrows down to 39" at its narrowest.
