I'm in the market for some rims, trying to keep the set of tires and rims under $1000. Through searching these forums I Came across www.discounttiredirect.com. Have any of you used this? Free shipping to canada is also a nice bonus.

And how important is wheel weight on our cars? It feels like I need to stick with something light to not ruin anything.

Light and stick with 17" or under. I have 18's on my summer tires and it kinda feels like I don't have power steering with them. Right now with my 16" winter set, its so much easier to steer

discounttire's is the only place I use to get tire's from.I've gotten 4 set's of tire's threw them no problem and they are quick.

If you're looking to keep weight down, anything larger than 17" will make that goal harder to achieve. Also consider some tires are heavier than others. I had a pair of goodridge tires that made my rims weigh an extra 1-2 lbs but you will nary notice a difference in ride quality or gas mileage

^^^No they don't but tirerack.com lists tire weights.

To the OP, discounttiredirect is an awesome company to deal with. I've bought my last several sets of tires from them. Great customer service, good prices and free shipping. If you are worried about weight, def. stick to 17" or smaller as others have said and 18lbs for a 17" isn't too bad...considering the stock MSP 17's weigh in around 23lbs!
