Hey everyone, I got a P2006 cel yesterday in 4th gear probably around 2000rpm and decided to go WOT. CEL came on. Checked it, cleared it. I just zip tied the vcts actuator on the passenger side of the intake manifold today, and the cel just came back on p2006 in my face. Before, I zip tied it, I turned the car on to see if the actuator would engage. It did.....I blew/sucked the actuator vacuum hose and there is no resistance(Not sure if there is supposed to be. Any help is appreciated

hmm ill have to try that when my car is running again. ive been getting a p2009 vtcs code

Thanks man im going to look into it this weekend and will let you know what I find. also somone told me the buterfly bay be loos and not opening correct, what u think should I take the intake mani out and check. my friend said that one came loos on his and like a screw got ingested lol

On the 03s the screws holding the butterfly valves in the intake (VICS valves) could come out and go into the motor but they fixed the problem by the time the 03.5s were built.

Yeah, and there was a recall on it, so call up your dealer and give them your VIN to see if the recall has been performed.

At this point, I've done so many small tweaking of 50 different things, plus replacing a few indirectly related components and instead of every tank of fuel getting it to be present for a couple of days, it's been 3 weeks without it.

hey guys check your gas cap seal, took it to my mechanic and he said that if it leaks out fumes then it can send this code.

its not your gas cap seal and go get a different mech.... This has to do with the butterflys in the intake manifold and has nothing to do with the fuel system. I think A your mech is a dumbass or B just wanted to get rid of you.

replace the solenoids. I fought this thing logn and hard and replacing those fixed the issue.. the codes have never came back.

I can't guarantee it will fix it, could be a short in the wiring harness, a mechanical problem with the actuator flaps themselves any number of things but typically those solenoids fail over time. The copper wrapping inside them degrades with age.
