Hey guys I know there are a bunch of threads about this problem, but I still need help. I disconnected the connectors and sprayed cleaned them out, both the connectors and where they connected, with solenoid cleaner spray. It seems to have made things worse. When I went out on the test drive the idle was more rough. When I was heading back the idle was smooth as it should be while I was waiting at a red light and then after some stuttering the car shut off. I was able to restart in no problem and drive home. You would think cleaning the connectors would make things better not worse. I just don't want to buy parts that I don't actually need. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

you can pick those sensors up from a junkyard for a few bucks. theyre pretty common and interchangeable. I had the same issue that was due to the actual sensor just crapping out.

P0660 is for Vic's and won't even make the cel come on. It doesn't even do anything till 5200 rpms. You have other issues

protege3690, the rough idle and sluggish acceleration was fixed after you changed the parts? I have to believe that the P0660 code has to be related because it's the check engine code that is coming up. The fact that I cleaned them and the symptoms got worse tells me they must be related. There are not much imports in the junkyards around here. Do you guys know the exact name for those parts? When I tried looking them up on eBay I got a few different ones that look different. Thanks

One is vics opens up runners in the intake manifold when it hits 5200 rpms. Not emissions related and will not make the cel come on. Mine was bad for years with no cel. But always threw a code for this which is p0660

The other one is for vtcs, this one is for cold start emissions. Only does anything during cold starts. It is emission related and will make the cel come on can't remember what the code is

Your symptoms sound more like a dirty egr valve

The winding inside those solenoids wear out over time. Replace it and the CEL will go away, car should run normal.
