P0138 for Emissions

I have installed a air/fuel gauge into my car. I am trying to get passed my emissions but P0138 is stopping me. It first showed up after I installed the gauge so if I disconnect the gauge will that most likely stop the problem?

is your a/f gauge the one where you splice into the existing o2 sensor wire od did it come with a new o2 sensor solely for the a/f gauge? if you had to splice into an existing o2 sensor wire (like i had to do with my old prosport) then maybe you messed something up there or a connection came lose.

I had to splice into it but the check engine light came on right on after i installed it with the p0138 code. Do you think removing it long enough for me to get y emissions passed would work? Or is there a way to reset the computer to recognize the gauge?

chances are your splice job did not work out good, a wire might have not made a connection when you spliced everything together, (which is one wire if im right) all i did was strip back some insulation off the wire going to the stock o2 sensor and wrap the af/signal wire around it, and electrical taped it up good, had no problems. i just think it has something to do with the a/f gauge install becasue the light came on RIGHT after it was installed.

use common sense! the problem happened after you messed with the wires, so OBVIOUSLY thats where the problem is... get rid of that crap and it'll fix it!
