P-chip?

(CLUNK)
DAMMIT!!
*spanks the bushings*

What is a "p-chip"...a programmed chip? No there isn't one of those that works...You will find lots of offers for them on E-bay, but they won't do s***...Do a search for ECU related stuff, and you will get some good information on why they don't work...

dont mess with ecu's. any real power you get outta that car will come from the engine bay, not an ebay ship. Not flaming, just commenting.

unless you were to say, SWAP another ECU from another certain mazda in there...

Even MP3 swapped ECUs haven't given people the gains they're looking for; besides, I think the problems (even pinging and needing to advance the timing) outweigh the benefits of sourcing one down.

jopheus, five letters for you: t-u-r-b-o

N/A is a good route (which is what I'm taking for now) - the ECU mod isn't going to happen.

is there a p-chip for the Pro5? how much and where is a good place to have it installed?

ignore most of the comments in here as they are mearly sarcastic.

The protege ECU is not chip based and hence no ship exists that can be changed. Also the computer can not be reprogrammed by anyone except mazda. There is nothing ECU wise you can do on a P5 except switch with an MP3 which will gain you a few whp.

He asked a question about the proteges computer. He did not ask for sarcastic BS. Having fun is all well and good but not when its in the face of someone looking for help.

Well, I honestly don't know what a p-chip is. So I was sort of hoping for some degree of elucidation in my acting like it was a potato chip. at least I didn't go BLARRRRGHHHH GO SEARCH nOOB
:D

And my comment was the only sarcastic one. Everyone else was on topic and attempting to help. So I wouldn't just generalize and say "most of the comments." I'd b**** at me personally.

there were a few, and I am not singling you out.

I just want the thread starter to know what is legit and what is a joke.
