Overboost??????

I fixed all of the other turbo "bugs" but now I have another one. I'm using the softest spring in my Deltagate but my boost goes up near 10psi! I noticed it right away so I've been taking it easy. Anyone have any ideas why it has such high boost?

I would think the wastegate is either adjusted wrong or is sticking.

I may pull it off and check it out. it feels like the boost just keep going up and up. When I first took it for a drive after I had gotten all of the bugs worked out of it the boost went up to 10psi and I was like "WTF" and let off. It felt like it would have kept going but I let off right away.

In all gears or just 1st and 2nd? I would boost creep in the lower gears also. I was told that the car was reving so fast that the wastegate could not keep up so I invested in a boost controller and set it to mild rather than sharp hopefully this will help. If I am wrong please advise.

That is messed up. . .

Kind of a dumb question, but are you sure you hooked up the vacuum to the right spot? It should be the fitting on the side of the deltagate and the one on the front that says "vacuum" should be left open -- nothing attached or plugged.

Otherwise, it would be the spring. . .I can't think of anything else.

As far as it still pulling, yeah it will pull until its heart pops. . .and when it does, so will yours.

Hope you get it fixed. . .if you have questions or concerns on how you hooked it up, post pics. There are plenty of us that will try to help ya out.

I've got the line running from the "boost" port on the wastegate running to the compressor housing. The vacuum port on the top is open. As far as the spring goes, I have the green one which I believe is the 3.5 psi spring right? I'm kinda out of ideas other than what Wshade or 1st MP3 in NH are thinking.

Yeah I was just about to ask what spring you have in there. So its a 3.5 psi spring. Its the Turbonetics WG right? And you never messed with it? Im hoping its not a defective WG ... hmmmm

The green soft one is the 3.5psi right? If it is then that's what I have in it. Yeah, I've got the turbonetics deltagate. I hope it's not defective too. I'm going to take it off and see if I can find anything wrong with it.

I think I found the problem. The guy that moved the MAF didn't put the FU!@#N hose back on the compressor housing! I don't have time to fix it tonight(can't get my hand back there without taking a bunch of s*** off) but I'll do it first thing tomorrow. I feel like an idiot not checking that in the first place but assumed that he would've put it back on. Thanks again for all of the input and I'll keep you guys posted on what happens.

I just put the hose back on. It is intercooled though. Remember I put that Greddy intercooler on.;) I'm letting the car warm up as we speak. I'm positive that the hose was my problem. I'll keep you guys informed.

I stand corrected:)

That did it! It's running right around 4psi. I'm gonna keep this spring in until I get it broken in. Terry, I'm sure you're glad to hear that it's running good so I can stop being a pain in your arse!:D I've got a few little things to do to make it look better before I take any pics. Hopefully this week. Thanks again Terry and all of you guys for helping me out!

(dunno) this situation, is somehow familiar...

1garnet, you are so lucky...at least it only boosted 10psi, my boost gauge dialed over 20psi and the BOV wasnt venting.

now im rebuilding...

good luck to you
good luck to me...

My car will be finished tomorrow i HOPE

Trust me, I would have kept going and going but I let off. Turned out to be the hose from the compressor to the wastegate. Did your CEL come on? Mine was fine for a couple of days then today it came on.

Yeah, I keep reseting the ECU because after the check engine light comes one, i get a rough ilde, car will hesitate like hell and most of the time the car stalls like 4 times before it gets ok.

Reseting the ecu will be good for a few days. I dont have th code yet, but will check it soon. I will be boosting 4 psi for the breakin for 1 week. 2nd week will raise the boost to 6-8psi and keep it like that.

Now im running the 125psi MSD2225 inline fuel pump, so i hope fuel delivery should be better.

I'm gonna have a guy at work put it on the Mazda computer and see if it's got any codes.
Do you think fuel delivery caused the damage to your engine? You'll have to let me know how that fuel pump works out for you.
