We are moving into our new house this weekend and to go along with the fun we have our new home theatre to setup. Plus, my husband gets to go out and buy some new toys to go along with it ...
The centerpiece is our new 1080p Sony SXRD 60" HD WS rear projector
There will be HD cable coming into the house with a Tivo box for recording (cant wait till their HD box comes out this year)
He will also be picking up a nice Denon DVD1920 upconverting/HDMI output Progressive Scan player to make use of the 1080i resolution this TV is capable of. With over 600 DVDs in the collection, we need something to do them justice!
(Although it would be nice to be able to afford their $3k reference unit - only in my dreams)
Naturally there will be a video switcher connected to one set of inputs with the VCR, PS2, and Dreamcast connected to it
The XBOX will also be connected through a HD adapter - dont have a 360 yet, nor am I in a rush to get one.
When the PS3 finally comes out that will get hooked up too via HDMI so we can finally run the display at 1080p with the BluRay player - not going to spend the money now for the Toshiba HD DVD player since I have a feeling that BR will be the format of choice in the end.
Then we just have to worry about the surround sound
Id love to drop 2g's for the Denon receiver with HDMI inputs, but thats a bit out of my price range for now so I think we will end up with a moderately priced HTIB (Home Theatre In a Box) - most likely the 1000 watt Pioneer thats out right now which has decent speakers and sub.
That way when we can spend the extra cash we can just swap that receiver out for the Denon
Its great to be able to have that movie theatre experience in the comforts of your own home -- just sucks having to spend $100 on a 3ft cable!
Any other suggestions on what to get, how to hook this all up?
