Ordered a Mazda CX5 2.2L Diesel AWD - 3 month delivery

Hi All,

New to the forum - but have been reading these threads for years....I'm from NZ and waiting on delivery of my new car (as above) it has a 3 month leadtime for delivery. This is the first time i have ever purchased a car with a leadtime? - An interesting experence to say the least!

I had a Mazda6 MPS (or Mazdaspeed6 as you know it by). Had it for 7+ years and loved it, but felt like it was time for a change. I test drove the new Mazda6 Wagon Diesel and really, really liked it, but it's a huge car (approx +8cm bigger) than my MPS and I wasn't looking for a bigger car. I knew the new Mazda3 was on it's way but couldn't wait another year till that became available out here in 2014. So, after a weekend of test driving the Mazda6 2.2 Diesel Wagon and the CX5 2.2 Diesel AWD, I decided to go with the CX5 2.2 Diesel AWD GSX in Soul Red (basically the mid-level version without the moonroof, bose package and other techy stuff I felt i didn't need)

I sold my MPS privately and got 20% more than if I had done a trade-in on the CX5. Glad I didn't accept the trade offer...

So life is pretty good - It's been a couple of months now, I have been driving around in a couple of loan cars from Mazda (Mazda2 and recently a Mazda6 Wagon) ETA for my car is @ the end of August.

The Leadtime - I could justifiy waiting 3 months because I knew the diesel engine made a big difference for me (Tourque is addicitive) I could have driven a 2.5L off the car lot but having driven the 2.2 diesel, I would have had post purchase regrets after 3 months!

They said to me at the time of order that Mazda just can't make the CX5 and diesel version engines fast enough and demand was outstriping supply with Japan/Europe is taking up a lot of the orders. Good things come to those who wait....Huh

I've read your plight in the US about the diesel and all I can say is get your orders in ASAP otherwise you could be in for a long leadtime like me if not longer...(unless your lucky and can drive one off the lot)

Cheers,
JustMazda

Hey, maybe all the demand is forcing Mazda to delay its introduction in US ?

Congrads! on your purchase by the way

At least you can actually buy one ...
I waited ~2 months for my 2.5L at the right configuration and color.

I suggest reading the manual, it's sooo big by the time you get to the end the cx-5 should have arrived ;)

Dad of John...

It was a similar story for me.

The 2.5L was OK, but nothing brain snapping compared to my old tuned CX7. But the diesel has awesome pull with all that torque. There was no way I could buy the 2.5L after that.

Hey Gareth,

Yes, ordered mine at the end of May and have been told it (my vehicle) was built in mid July and is now waiting/ready for the August shipment. ETA is late August.

Hey Sassimac,

I heard that in Aussie, you could expect to wait up to six months for delivery for the diesel version (was that true or just rumor?)

Can you tell me were I can get a soft copy of the EU version of the user manual please? I placed an order for a CX5 yesterday and it will be delivered round about December. Would love to read the user manual by the time I have my car. Thanks.

Getting excited now - I think my CX-5 has arrived at the wharf and should be sent to the dealer for a pre-delivery service prior to accepting delivery around this time next week.....almost 3 months to the day since I placed the order on 31/5!

Enjoy. I have a further 4 weeks to wait for mine. CX-5 has just won yet another UK WhatCar? comparison test.

Looks like the US won't be getting too many of those any time soon if they can't keep up everywhere else. :-(
