Orange MSP owner no more

Just reversed the deal on the Orange MSP. Originally, I'm thinking to go with the Titanium one (like the majority has suggested here), but the wait time is uncertain. With the increase in price and the no payment financing ending, I finally decided to go with a Protege5 instead! More creature comforts (cruise control, moonroof, leather seats, etc) :D BUT no more real performance :( . Well, perhaps I've avoided the problems some of you experiencing with the stereo and turbo

Still I do miss the MSP :(

you can slap on all the suspension parts from the MSP, and get am aftermarket turbo later on :D

congrats on the purchase

Well some are able to wait a LONG time for it..
and it will be certainly worth it!.
At least, you stuck with a Mazda in the end. It was either a MAZDASPEED for me or no Mazda at all.

hrm... what can i say, ive had 3 cars in the past two years i kept putting off what i really wanted eveyrtime so i traded in cuz i got bored with the car i hope this doenst happen to you man, i had a 2001 dakota slt becuz i couldn't afford what i really wanted at the time which was a lancer, but when i found out how much the lancer was, i had to have it so i traded in and baught the lancer, then it lacked in power so i said hell i'll wait a year and get the evo, but then i heard about that 30 - 35k pricetag and i said no way cant afford that and well whats one step down from that the MAZDASPEED and after modding it, i'll be up there, not quite but well enuf, and with the hp tq increase that i got goign from the lancer to the msp i am very happy. and ya just cant get this dayum spicy orange on any other car ;) lol i love my mazdaspeed!

Hey its all good.

Go get the injen intake, wires what ever you want sparko or magnacor.
Go get the quad four plugs from borsch,
A good muffler system. Like MagnaFlow or what have you.
That alone will make a big difference in the car...
Like they said you can buy the suspension kit for the MSP and put it in the 5 and make it your MSP5.
There is a lot coming down the pipe for the car...
A lot you will love the car...

Good choice,

Hmm it would appear that my wife and I are Black -n- Blue.
:p

Excellent choice. I was in the same situation.

I wanted the space in the P5, I had to have cruise control, and the leather and moonroof made the car too apealing. Plus driving back and forth to work with the tight suspension of the MSP would get tiring after a while.

My only concern was the lack of power, but the MSP doesn't solve that IMO. Its still front wheel drive, and it only adds 40hp. If I was in the market for a sports car, I'd buy the RX-8 when it comes out or something with a little German flavor.

Comparing to cars in its class the P5 is still a winner though. It's got the same amount of power as the Matrix/Vibe but it looks way better. The ride and suspension screams sportscar while the Matrix/Vibe suspension says utility van. The Turbo Matrix doesn't come in AWD so the torqe-steer would still be an issue, and the AWD doesn't come in stick!

That was my logic at least.

If you cant Drive the one you love, love the one you drive. Thankfully for me they are one and the same. I love my car more and more every day. I hope you have the same luck.

PR5 rocks!

My wife's PR5 we bought last year made me wonder how Mazda can make money on such a good car at that price! It was compared to a 3-Series BMW by Car and Driver. They said,"3-Series virve for under 20 grand." Needless to say they were impressed. It won most of the shootouts and was always considered to be the most fun to drive. I went in to buy a 6S this year and wasnt even considering the MSP but when I drove mine man that was it. The MSP was all I loved in the PR5 with a bit more. My wife's suspension in her PR-5 seems tighter to me and it looks a bit lower; Like it has shorter springs. Either way they are both marvelous cars. I almost bought an SVT Focus loaded with my S-plan discount and the 0.0% deal I would have saved over 2500.00 with my S-plan so it was very hard to resist the money savings. But in the end the paint, wheels, radio, and my right foot won me over to the MSP.

Cheers and happy PR-5ing.

Didn't you get S-plan savings on your MSP??? I did, so you should have!

The 180hp Matrix is not turbo-charged. It's just varible cam lobes, similar to Hond'a VTEC.

Glad your getting the P5.

As far as problems, only major one i've had was the clamp falling off the turbo hose. Other than that all problems were caused by me, not the car :)
