Ok. I've been working the past couple months on putting a kit together. So far I have new mam 1st gen sleeper manifold and downpipe, and a new spearco fmic.
Recently, I purchased a used, but good condition gt28r 60 a/r... no shaft play, etc. I'll still need to purchase lines, and a compressor inlet adapter for this turbo. I haven't even seen the thing yet... it's still being shipped.
Now the opportunity has come up to purchase a gt28rs with lines included for a very nice price. It's also a turbo I know the history on... been babied pretty good. I'm toiling with the idea of picking up the gt28rs and re-selling the gt28r. It's obviously a much nicer, more expensive, and "blingy" turbo, but do I really need it? Given the following circumstances, which do you think would be the wiser decision:
-Running external tial wg w/7lb spring. No plans on building motor, so no greater than 10psi will probably be seen.
-Since I have the first gen sleeper manifold (log style) and smaller 2.25in dp, I will see slower spool times as compared to the redesigned manifolds.
-Trying to decide between a plug'n'play msp ecu (pefect for 7psi???), MPI tuner, or Microtech.
So, the decison now lays before me to either finish the kit w/the gt28r, or splurge a little more and go for the pimp mack daddy disco potato. Also, given how the kit will be used, do you think the msp ecu is up to the task? I really don't feel like dicking around with MPI. The only good thing is that there is a pretty good and fairly cheap mircotech tuner in the area. However, for only 7-10 psi, I can't really see spending a grand on microtech. Ahhh decisions decisions....
